  • NXT type protection in a one-step product?

Have I missed it or does Meguiars not make a one-step (polish + polymer sealant) type product? I'm thinking of something like the Griot's "One-Step Sealant" I am presently using the Swirl-X + NXT 2.0 with a Flex DA and get excellent results. There are occasions when I'd like a one-step product because of time. I know the Cleaner Wax very well, but the protection is very short lived. If I may ask the question here, does anyone have experience with the Griot's One Step?

    Thanks.

NXT is a one-step product as it does contain mild cleaner and polish.

I only do the 5-step (Wash-Clay-Clean-Polish-Wax) once or twice a year. The wax I use here is pure wax, either Synthetic Sealant or Yellow Wax.

The rest of the times I use NXT-2.0 or Cleaner Wax and I get good results.

BTW, since my car surface is still very smooth, I will try Wash-SwirlX-Wax (pure wax) next time I wax.

The cleaners in Nxt are very very mild, not to be mistaken with a proper cleaning step.

You would probably be looking for a proper cleaner/wax like ColorX in the consumer line, or #66/D151 in the pro lines. Just a matter of how strong a cleaner you need, and how much you need.

However, none of the cleaner/waxes are updated like Nxt 2.0 is.

I agree with mis3. And while NXT may not have a ton of cleaners in it, it's something.

I too go with the regement of one major clay, cleaning, polish and waxing a year, then about every 6-8 weeks I will use wax only in the form of NXT 2.0. Granted my car is garaged every night and I keep it very clean so nothing really sets on it. Plus I keep an eye on when I need to clay, but I try to do it all only once a year.

I should also disclose that I am on the lazier side of some of the members here on MOL and while I would love a show-car finish, I can live with the 85-90% perfection I have on my daily driver.

I think ColorX on its own is bit underrated as far as protection. I used it on my mom's car which sits outside 24/7 and six weeks later when I washed it it was still beading. I then used the Ultimate Quik Wax and it's held up for close to a month so far. I don't see anything wrong with occasionally using ColorX on its own as long as you're not expecting it to last 4 months or something unreasonable.

My current plan for my own vehicles is to use ColorX and NXT 2.0 every six to eight weeks. That seems to keep the vehicles looking brand new. I just can't seem to go very long without waxing even if I try.

Thanks folks. Perhaps I've been underestimating the cleaning power of NXT 2.0 because I've never used it without claying and Swirl-X first. I also have a garaged car and the surface is generally in very good condition. So next time I'll try the NXT alone with an 8006 pad, which should enhance the cleaning. I find that I use very, very little of the NXT with the DA or it builds up and is very difficult to dry and get off. So rather than run a bead around the outside edge of the pad, I might use four or five pea-sized dollops around the perimeter of the pad. Is this how other people use it? I ask, because this sparing use is going to reduce its cleaning ability I think.

Another product you might want to consider trying is M20 Polymer Sealant. It sits between Cleaner Wax and ColorX in terms of cleaning power and leaves a slick durable gloss. Some MOL members believe it is the most durable of Meguiar's waxes.

I always thought the M20 and M21 are pure wax with no cleansing power.
                Am I wrong?

M20 is definitely a cleaner wax that even contains mild abrasives. M21 is a pure sealant without abrasive or cleaning properties.

Mostly depending on my mood (not a good reason) unless I have noticeable marring, I use either NXT 2.0 or ColorX. I have all of the other "stuff" but don't seem to need it. I always use just an 8006 pad for applying products. It works for me. Yeah, I have white trucks, but note the black Harleys too.

What are the differences between a wax and a sealant?

Sometimes I actually put 2 layers of M21. Should I not do this?
