"Honey. Don't forget my Swirl X!!!"
As the thrill of having no swirls or scratches in my trunk lid gradually wore off this week, my mind somehow seemed to perceive it's gloss as "just not quite the same" as the other factory stock panels. It was shiny enough all right, and most would kill for such a finish, but something just didn't sit well with me. Sorta like the beginning of getting a cold. Oh, it's all in my imagination. I feel fine.
I spent untold hours waxing the trunk and viewing it under differing light sources and angles. Sometimes very good, and then not so much; but try as I did, I still couldn't satisfy myself that it was what I was striving for.
After ten coats of NXT 2.0 and still that lingering doubt in my mind, I just tore the panel down again and polished the daylights out of it with my Swirl X. I had applied one application of Swirl X after having taken all the defects out with Scratch X 2.0. It looked fabulous and I guess my senses were apparently overwhelmed with the absence of scratches.
I've just applied c. 7, as best I can keep track, applications of Swirl X. Once again, I used my patented cork coaster as a backing plate with the MG yellow applicator. I rinsed the applicator after each section and the trunk is back to my ridiculously high expectations. The clear overhead lighting appears identical as my eyes shift from the virgin paint work to the trunk.
If I had been trying to restore a neglected finish with my process, I never would have noticed a thing and would have been overjoyed. However, going from factory crystal clear hi lights, down and then back up again proved, for me, a totally more difficult project.
So make certain that after milk, eggs, butter and Scratch X 2.0, you always remember to add Swirl X to your shopping cart. That is if you're after the "It just don't get any better than this" finish.
