not sure where to post this, but what can i do to disinfect the A/C system in my car? i have been having allergy attacks the past few days while in the car and i thinkthe ac is to blame.....any ideas..
Not sure if you guys have it in the States but we have a product called Glen 20. It's a household spray disinfectant / air freshener. Simply spray it into all your air vents.
I have used it with success on a previous car with smelly & mouldy a/c vents. It kills germs plus smells great!

I own a silver vehicle and a black vehicle owns me. The black one demands attention, washing, detailing, waxing and an occasional dinner out at a nice restaurant. The silver one demands nothing and it looks just fine. I think the black vehicle is taking advantage of me, and the silver car is more my style. We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.
There's a product that you put in your car and let the A/C run for 15min. It works like a charm. MAY not be legal in all states, but if that's the case, buy from an online retailer and have it shipped to your home.
I use a stuff called 'Gen-Art'.This is a contaminent, bacteria and fungal killer and is medically approved.I use this once a year for cleaning the ventilation system in my car.
If you go to your dealer, you can see if they have this stuff. This one I've got is written in Italian, but must be used worldwide.Autoshops might have it aswell.Speak to your dealer first though as you might have to remove the pollen filter to apply it.
Possibly, your A/C needs recharging? Have you checked the glass eyeveiwer on the unit itself, located under your hood.If you run your A/C and see foamy content or bubbles in the veiwfinder...It will need recharged.
Aside from using what has been suggested in your vents if you have allergies it may also be a good idea to shampoo your carpet, mats and cloth seats if that's what you have. Sometimes that causes allergies to to worsen when any dust is kicked up especially when the lower vents are switched on. Just a suggestion.
I know this doesn't help your immediate problem, but you might want to look into it, I've heard that running the A/C in recirculate mode for too long without pulling fresh air into the system can cause mold/smell issues.
