    Re: DC-1 Discontinued

I find the name SwirlX very misleading. I was at a local store (Canadian Tire) today. I overheard a bloke saying that he doesn't use SwirlX because SwirlX is designed for swirls, and that his car doesn't have swirls.

We all know that SwirlX does more than simply remove swirls. It is a cleaner polisher that is effective for scratches and blemishes. But people tend to get the idea that it is designed strictly for swirls. Having an old black M5 on the label also makes it suggest that it is a product to combat strictly swirls on older black cars like the 80's M5.

        Re: DC-1 Discontinued

I have only used M82 a few times (M205 came out soon after I started using M82), but I was VERY VERY pleased with it when I did use it.

I used it to chase M105 on a Yukon and it finished out 100% perfect with zero swirls or holograms remaining and was easy to remove, too.

        Here are the pictures...like glass!

Those pictures were taken with NO LSP... just M82 and then pictures. I was impressed!

Hi Nick! Do you put swirl x on with a polisher or by hand to get the good outcome?

Good. I will try SwirlX. I will do WASH - SwirlX - WAX.

              Re: DC-1 Discontinued

Finally my friend bought me a bottle of SwirlX from Buffalo and I will get it in the next 1-2 days. I will then do WASH - SwirlX - Yellow Wax.

I did clay 2-3 months ago and the paint surfaces are still very smooth.

So, I guess SwirlX is like DC-1, apply and remove right away, one section at a time. When I apply SwirlX, should I use the yellow pad and rub it hard in circular motions?

When you apply the SwirlX, you will work it in a little (or a lot if more cleaning is needed), and then remove before dry.

You can move your hands in whatever pattern your like.

DC#1 is a great chemical cleaner, great for a pre-wax cleanse. I cannot understand the decision to discontinue it. SwirlX cuts too much for the sort of applications that people typically use DC#1 for.

Why not use ColourX for its cleaning properties? I think I read somewhere that if you just wipe it on and wipe it off, you won't leave any wax behind and just use ColourXs cleaners.

This is indeed an outside-the-box idea!!! However, I will just use SwirlX to replace DC-1 and DC-2. Maybe I won't rub too much to make sure it won't cut too much.

For anyone out there looking for a product similar in cut to Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner, there is M09 Swirl Remover 2.0 readily available at most auto parts stores.

                        Shouldnt be too hard.

                          +1

Far too many people still "wax" their cars, have no idea bout cleaner / polish / sealant etc....
It's naive to assume that most people are going to research online what to use and how to use it.
Having a 1-2-3 step product on the shelf keeps it simple for those looking for something more than wax.

Without this forum I would have never bought Swirl-X or Color-X for quick fixes.

The 3-Step System has treated many elderly and moms well for many years.

Taking one step out of a complete system may ruin the results of the other two products in the system.

As a businessman, I would imagine that the decision to discontinue the DC-1 is one that is driven by profit.

                            - The DC-1 MAY be relatively costly to produce and the price for such product is sticky
                            - The DC-1 MAY have lost its edge against the products flooded by the competition
                            - The DC-1 MAY have lost its sales due to the introduction of Meguiar's other products
                            - The DC-1 MAY simply be unpopular among consumers (the product's popularity on MOL is not representative of the true market)

There are many good reasons why a product is discontinued. If Meguiar's chooses to discontinue the production and sale of DC-1, then they probably have reasons for that as well. These reasons may not be known to the marketers, researchers, or technical personnels of Meguiar's, and are known only to the executives of the corporation.
