UPDATE: they are paying for brand new wheelsThey don't however know what was put on the wheels to cause that type of damage.

The car's 6 months old. A bird turd and I'm reaching for the quick detailer in horror. This nearly gave me a heart attack.

As for what they (or anyone who has cleaned the wheels for that matter) had to do for that to happen, could be what Murr has suggested. That on a hot wheel, it could only be a matter of a minute. Could be too much polishing on top of that. Many things could have caused it IMO.

It could actually be pretty easy, if a cleaner they used wasnt diluted properly.
