  • Using 135 Synthetic Spray Detailer on GLASS???

The label on my gallon container of 135 says something to the effect that it can be applied to glass to make glass surfaces bead.

Anyone done this??? How 'bout the windshield??? How 'bout the insides of glass???

    Thanks in advance!

It should work the same as if you applied it to your paint. Keep in mind it will probably work better if the glass is thoroughly prepped as in you have clayed the glass before application. Any glass cleaners used after application of M135 will strip any of the hydrophobic properties sitting on the glass from M135

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
    Remove swirls my friends.

      Hi Andrew,

It's a brand new car and has never even been washed except prior to taking delivery. So far I've only used "Windex" type products and the glass is nearly invisible. I guess I'm worried about reduced windshield wiper visibility and perhaps any nighttime glare or swirl issues.

I also smoke a pipe, and wonder if it would make inside cleaning a tad easier. Yeah, I know, my wife and Dr. daughter say I gotta quit also!

It works good for most people on the outside. Maybe just do the passenger side for your first try.

I tend to use RainX as my "base coat" then top it up with UQD/UQW after the next couple washes. Then the glass needs a proper cleaning and RainXing again.

Don't know how it would affect smoke on the inside.

You can also try out the Nxt Glass Cleaner sometime.

So it's sorta like using plain ol' RainX? I've used RainX in the past. Didn't notice any great shakes, but I may give it a shot...

This detailing stuff is starting to get downright 'spensive"!!!

I've been using it & Last Touch on the outside glass for a while. Never tried it on the inside.

While M135, even UQD can be applied to glass for "water beading", but it is important to note that these product are not "glass cleaners". In addition, if you use them on glass, you must use a really good clean microfiber to ensure there is no "hazing/ smudging" left behind.

Keep in mind, the label also states that you need to clean the windows 1st, before applying this product.

As far as the inside goes, probably not a good idea since this is not a glass cleaner and you won't see the effects of the Hydrophobic Polymers on the inside In addition, the inside of windows are always tougher to clean so the chances of leaving behind streaking / smudging increase dramatically.

That's the answer I was looking for. The gallon of 135 is a dream come true for me, but it appears to be a lose, lose situation for windows. I personally think beading on particularly a windshield can be downright annoying, particularly in Orlando's "frog choker" rainstorms. Maybe something for folks with moon roof glass, though...

                Thank you, Mike!!!
