I am curious. Does new car have wax on them, maybe by the manufacturer or dealership?

My car just bought a new Mazda-3. The car is white so it's not a challenge to keep it nice and shinny.

Most dealerships will put on a coat of wax before it is delivered, yes. And they usually add in some scratches and swirls for free....

How about when the car leaves the manufacturer?

Maybe I should ask the question in another way. After the manufacturers paint the cars and put on layer(s) of clear coat, do they do anything more to the paint before delivery to the dealerships?

        Re: New Car

As far as I know they put some kind of preservative. It helps to protect car before it is sold. The best way is to degrease the car and to apply some wax.

depending on if its been outside or inside, i'd still go all out with wash wax and clay. just so you will know when it was done, and when you will have to do it again.

So, the first coat of wax is applied by the dealership.

I guess this is part of the preparations the dealerships do before the customer pick up.

After the painting process, there is no wax put on.Maybe as said earlier, some kind of preservative.Have you checked your car manual?Quite often they recommend that you wax your car after recieving it.

Dealership?Possibly,depends...If they do,I'm sure it'll be cheap stuff.I reckon they would use a wash/wax all in one product.

Congrats on the new car. We just bought a new car in May. The very next day I had to "Meguiarize" it.

It surely will vary by dealership, but from the manufacture the car is only clear coated. The dealership will add a coat of wax after the sale and during customer prep. I'm sure you've heard of the protective coating they often try to sell you, it's a clear coating applied and wiped, not buffed off like a wax. Either way the original paint and clear coat has a five year warranty from most manufactures. I've heard cases where the aftermarket sales people sell you the clear protection and it never even gets applied because the warranty is already there.

I'd definitely encourage a rubbing session with your new baby, it will bring the two of you close.
