  • Re-badge?

One of my "Oldsmobile" emblems was very loose so I decided I was better off forcing it off rather than it falling off while I'm driving, never to be found again. Now that I have it off (and am painstakingly getting the adhesive off my car's nose) I need to know what to re-attach it with.

What do you guys use? How do I apply it? How much curing time should I allow? What precautions should I take during curing/after cured?

You should be able to find emblem adhesive at an automotive parts store. The bottle/tube should have some directions, but basically clean the area to your satisfaction, do an alcohol wipe down, and then apply the adhesive and emblem.

3M makes an emblem adhesive. Look at Wal-Mart or auto parts stores.

It's a bouble sided tape used in body shops. It comes in different thickness. You would probably need the thinest.

This is different than ordinary household DS tape. It's stronger and doesn't disintigrate easily.Just make sure both surfaces are really clean before putting the emblem back on.

Here's a picture of the back of a honda emblem with the DS tape on it:

If you're having trouble getting the old tape off, gently go over with a hair dryer. Also, try and put the piece/s of tape in the same place as they were.you would this incase the surface is curved. It might not sit properly if you put the tape on in another location.

I've used the above tape on my truck and some others. Works good. I sandwiched it underneath my toolbox a bit to make it even thinner, trimmed it up with an X-Acto knife, and put it on.
