  • after a full day of buffing..

I am still not all the way done.. Havent even put a drop of wax on yet..
What am I doing wrong that is taking so long?

I have been using the UC all day until I ran out. I can really tell a difference but it just takes time to work it in.. Does that mean my car was just that bad.. or else keep on going over the same thing that I already covered.

after doing both sides with the UC.. I come back to polish it. The surface was real rough.. sandy like.. is that normal?

Removing the polish with a microfiber is a real trick.. its doesnt come off very easy.

    any helpful hints yet?

If your paint is bad, or hard, or worse, both... things can take a while. Maintaining is always easier than fixing. Plus a first time with the machine.

The rough feeling after the UC does confuse me though.... maybe do a little spot by hand, see how it feels after?

Hopefully someone who has used UC by machine can help.

I just used UC today on my Dads car. I dont know what kinda of car your polishing but I still have plenty in the bottle. How many times up and down, left to right are you doing? Were I live it very hot and Humid but I sometimes have little spots after I wipe with IPA. Are you using a spray bottle with IPA?. IPA =Isopropyl alcohol. fill up a spray bottle with IPA halfway ,then water the other half. 50/50 solution. Also UC is s compound its aggressive so it might not be 100% clear. Try swirlX on a polishing pad after on a test spot and see how it looks.

Also you might not be able to get 100% clear results with the DA you are using. I have the Same DA.

Was it a new bottle? If you opened UC for the first time and ran out of it then you are using way to much product.

Are you working the product till it dries? Or when you say "takes time to work it in" you mean that takes time to remove the defects?

Are you saying that you are working UC with the G110 and when you finish a side you come back and remove the product residue? If this is the case, that's your problem, you usually work UC by sections (depending on how severe the paint is, this means if the car is in good shape you can work bigger sections but if you have a neglected paint then I would shrink the work section so you can concentrate better and remove the defects) and when you finish working the product you remove the residue with a microfiber towel and move on the next section. You never dry buff and you clean your pad consistently.

If the product dries then you'll always have problems removing the product. All product should be removed without letting them dry except for waxes. Waxes are the only one formulated to be left to dry and then remove. Compounds/Cleaner Polishes/Pure Polishes are meant to be worked and removed without drying.

Re: after a full day of buffing..

The bottle was not new, I did a few test spots with it a couple weeks ago to see how it would work.

Yes, I was removing the UC with a microfiber after getting all the defects out on each section

I was using #7 show car polish. When I was doing it, my pad was getting pretty dirty. I would guess all the residue from the UC. so, I would be cleaning the pad often. The paint feels smooth after polishing it,

The part that I was wondering, in order to check to see if you have made enough passes, you just do a swipe to see if it smears? I did many of passes and it still smeared.

Being my first time with the machine, i know I need to work on some stuff. Keeping my sections small is the biggest thing. I would do a area, but they always seem to get bigger. and of course the pressure of the DA. to figure the pressure, do you want the pad to spin really good, or give it enough pressure so it turns but slow speeds so its actually working a little

Compounds/Cleaner Polishes/Pure Polish if you do a swipe will always smear. You'll have to remove the product completely in order to get a clear finish. The Swipe Test only is good for the waxing stage, that you use it to know if the wax it ready to be removed
