  • Bayes Waterless Vehicle Wash. Next step up from ONR and QEW?

I saw this is a supermarket last night, so right away I have my reservations. At first I thought it was another rinseless product like a knockoff of ONR or QEW. But as I read the label, it became clear that Bayes Waterless Vehicle Wash is intended to be exactly what it advertises. I visited their website and embedded their youtube video below.

Has anyone used this product? I was antsy about using a rinseless product, but I'm not sure I would ever feel comfortable using a totally waterless wash.

Cleans, Shines & Protects Cars, Bikes, Boats, Glass, Chrome, Vinyl & Rubber
Washing your car at home requires up to 150 gallons of water per wash, while contaminated water flows down gutters and storm drains to pollute rivers, lakes, and oceans. Our revolutionary one-step wash professionally details the exteriors of any vehicle using only the water in the product itself. Advanced biodegradable polymers encapsulate dirt and lift away debris without scratching the paint. One 16oz bottle averages 4-6 washes, at 20 minutes per wash and no water. You save time, money, and the environment!

I don't know if it really works, but i always had and still have a hard time believing such products.

If it works (as advertised), how about the inner wheelarches then?
How are we supposed to make those clean?
    With loads of spit?

Nah....i'd rather stick to the old-fashioned "proven" methods.
It may sometimes be hard work, but afterwards you'll feel satisfied when you see the results after a good washing.

Not to sound sarcastic here but I'm on my way to the market right now.

      Lets see....

      dozen eggs
      gallon of milk
      oh yeah, Bayes waterless wash.

Just kidding but think about it.

Yes, but you can also buy your Meguiar's at Wal-Mart.
        Think about that!

I know nothing about the Bayes product, but the concept isn't anything new.
            Dri Wash & Guard
            Wet Paint
            Chemical Guys One
Ansoil Miracle Wash are a few of the waterless wash & wax products I have heard of and most likely there's many more.

There's also several waterless wash products that don't have any protection in them, but do clean a vehicle up.
The one I happen to be most familiar with is Poorboy's Spray & Wipe and it has done a good job at what it is intended for. A few years back, I wouldn't have used a waterless wash if you gave it to me. I buy and use the PB S&W by the gallon.

Also in the unconventional washing realm, I use Optimum ONR and Detailer's Pride RW&G with very good results as a rineseless, low water use wash.

They aren't for everyone, but you might be surprised at how good they work.

No thanks, not for me. ONR is about as "riskay" as i wanna get.

So was I, but I do think I would sooner go to the grocery store rather than Wal-Mart.

16oz bottle for $10 (on their website). Any which way you look at it, their product is way more expensive than ONR or QEW on a per ounce of usage. I think with their "Green" marketing geared toward the non-car person, they should do well.

I think I will stick with my ONR.

Honestly I think you could dilute ONR put it in a spray bottle and use it just like this product. If you think about the process used for ONR it would be quite similar. You would just go through more microfibers so you aren't rubbing dirty towels all over your vehicle because you wouldn't have a bucket of solution to clean your wash media.

I'm not saying I would do so, just a thought that raced through my head after watching the video and hearing about "polymers encapsulating dirt and lifting it away."

I can just imagine Ed Begley wearing his safari shorts and Ugg boots, "washing" his solar powered hybrid coupe with Bayes waterless wash. Yeah, I might get comfortable using an established rinseless wash between traditional car washes, but probably not with a spray on product like Bayes.

That is why I think we should make it not rain. Imagine all those millions of cars getting rinsed when it rains. Yeah, when it is not raining, the maybe 500 vehicles getting washed in one day really contaminates things.

Watch out for these EPA types... all about control, not about protection folks.

                              I think it's just another QD/UQD spin-off.If it's any good or not.....?

I've used QD and a microfibre several times without washing(for light dust),and havn't had any problems. But I only do this occasionally if I don't have any time.

I still prefer to do a wash.
