I'll be using a dual action (first time) on a black 2006 Honda Civic. My goal is to get it to look like wet black glass and to be as flawless as possible. Curently there are swirls eeeeeeeverywhere all over the car thanks to a "thought we were doing you a favour" dealership wash. There are also a few other repairable scratches here and there I'm confident I'll get out but I want to make sure I get out all the swirls too. Apparently Honda paint is "soft" and some people say to start with something not so aggresive and work up if you need to. I'm thinking of starting with Ultimate Compond. Is that a little extreme or?

Re: need to know...
What type of polisher is it? What sort of pads, etc do you have?
In general, you would do a test spot with SwirlX, then UC if needed.
Or for the real bad spots, you may need UC by hand just for those bad spots, then SwirlX everything.2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue

Re: need to know...
Thanks guys. I'll get some pix ASAP but it'll have to wait until tomorrow or the day after.
In the meantime I'm wondering if between claying and using swirlX/scratchX2.0/UC is there anymore cleaning that is worthwile doing. I mean is claying enough to clean and then just go right to polishing? What I was intending on doing was:
wash
clay
swirlX/scratchX2.0/UC (whatever needs to be used)
wax

I'm definately aware of doing a test spot for not wasting time. I know this is going to take long enough as it is but i'm excited

Where are you getting your pads from? If from ADS I think I saw that Rick has listed his order of aggressiveness. And if from properautocare they also list the aggressivness. But they do not relate to eachother exactly. I think I remember one or so variation between the two.

There are so many places in the US with great deals and I would totally buy the Meguiars G110 from Amazon.com which is on sale right now but they won't ship to me. The Canadian version of Amazon, Amazon.ca is garbage and don't even offer any Meguiars products.
Getting stuff shipped from the US to Canada is a joke most of the time. It's hit or miss. I could get stuff shipped to a P.O. box in Buffalo and then drive the hour or so to get it but eshine is a place in Canada which has a nice selection with good price and they'll ship right to my door so I don't have lift a finger.
I read a thread on here yesterday where somebody stated that Lake Country makes pads to differenct specs for difference distributors...so for example a white LC pad from one place might not be identical as a white LC pad from another place. Am i in line?

Re: need to know...
J.S., if I were you, I would consider getting the new 7424XP. Like the G110, it's got a bit more power than the 7424. Here's a recent comparative review.
If you want to order a G110, contact customer service at Meguiar's Canada: 1-800-278-4559 or (905) 670-5580.Swirls hide in the black molecular depths, only waiting for the right time to emerge and destroy your sanity.

I am aware of the newer 7424XP and i can actually get it from eshine for only $10 more than the regular 7424. I did actually read the thread here at Meguiar's Online comparing them to each other. Although I did read the thread, I was still left undecided. Now that you've recommened it maybe I should consider the XP BUT before that I'm going to do what you're suggesting...call Meguiar's Canada customer service and inquire about the G110. I don't know why I didn't think of that myselfhahah
Call me cheese but this is so exciting
P.S. - What hits a nerve with me is ignorant people (i.e. my wife) who just don't understand and they knock people who spend time detailing their rides. Trying to make them understand is like trying to teach a brick how to swim.

Re: need to know...
It is exciting! My family thinks im crazy too
Looking at those pads, I would get as many as you can afford. It helps for when you need to use more pads and you dont have to wash them as often
Based on that, their ccs pads are
black= finishing (maybe two)
blue= finessing (maybe one)
green= polishing/finishing (two or so)
orange= light cutting (a few of these)
white= polishing (few of these also)
yellow= cutting (only a few of these)
Thats what I would do but its always good to have more. I would also reccomend the new PC XP, you would probably really like it! Now you just gotta convince the wife
