  • GC Bug & Tar remover

Hi all. Some Meg's products are hard for me to get a hold of out here.Last week I saw the Gold Class Bug & Tar remover.I can pick it up this week if the order of techwax2.0 has arrived.

I was tempted to pick up another today localy but decided not to(Not sure about strong chemicals in cheaper brands),but I'm going tomorrow to the shop where I can get Meg's.

    I havn't tried it before,normally I don't get to much of a problem because I wash soon after,but couldn't manage this week.

Is it the best in the line for this job? (Bug splatter and a few tar spots).

    Thanks!

    I use a bug sponge.
I've used some other kind of B&T cleaner and I don't think it really helped.
Plus I was afraid of it doing harm to my head lights.
A bug sponge is a hard pores sponge that works great!
Plus you can use it on the whole car if it's one of those filthy cars with lots of grim like this:

I use Gold Class Bug and Tar Remover for most of m details. It hangs onto vertical surfaces quite well. Makes cleaning up tar especially easy as well.

I think I should probably get myself some.

Could this be used to remove Bird Bombs safely?

          Hi Eddie,

Meguiar's Gold Class Tar and Bug Remover works very well, if you allow it to dwell on the spots first.

For bugs on the front of the vehicle, the old tried and true method is taking a wet beach towel and laying it draped over and touching the bug splatters the best you can on the front end. Wait at least 15 minutes and go back and remove the towel. The bug guts will be much easier to remove.

For tar, I tend to use a special solvent which makes removal easy. But the GC Bug and Tar will also work if you allow it to dwell first. Make sure where ever you use a bug and tar product that you wash and re-wax the area as it will strip the wax.

Finally, Pro Wax makes a product called S-10 Bug Guard. You spray this product on to the front of vehicle before a long trip. The S-10 will leave a washable coating on the front of the vehicle to protect it from bu splatters, that when you reach your destination, you simply wash it off. If you are taking your car to a car show, some go so far as to use blue painter's safe release tape on the front end. It looks funny, but it will save you a headache when you reach the show!

The best to use is a rinse-less wash product in a spray bottle. Spray the product on both the towel and the bird bomb. Allow a few seconds and then CAREFULLY wipe the spot off. If you have waxed recently, it will come off easily. If not, it will be more difficult. You could also use Last Touch diluted 1:1 which also works very well.

Thanks everyone for the input. That was something I thought,Tim.It would need another coat of wax over the affected area. Also, same idea, let it dwell, for a few minutes.

Thanks Tim,Marl Kleis mentioned that to me before.Always handy to know.

Mario, this is not the states.Sounds great, but I've never seen that here.I even have to import my engine oil,for heaven's sakes...(Red Line....no one knows what that is here!!!).

Okay,I'll pick up a bottle anyway. It's always handy to have.

              Thanks again...

Thanks Eddie for making this thread, I was going to ask about what other did to combat the bug problem with their cars...sorry if threadjacking a little, but what do you do on a weekly basis for bug removal?? The soaked MF suggestion sounds really good..

                  no problems...i'm done here.

I think the soaked towels/microfibres is a good one.

If I need speed,I'll use the spray+touch up with wax.
