Thanks RGP,Do you have any questions before you do any claying?
I'll be happy to help you out here,if you havn't done this before.
I'll first have to get both the kit and the courage. I appreciate your offer, and will definitely let you know! Read: Do I really wanna mess with a perfect factory finish and risk sleeping on the curb? Maybe I'll give it a shot later on her Acura...
Thanks a million, Eddie! I'll also do some research here when time permits. I'm sure somebody someplace has done a review, but given you know my apprehension, I'd rather follow your advice...

I wrote this out for someone last night...i'll see if I can dig it out..

If you've never clayed before,it's real simple.I know you're anxtious not to play around with the paintwork, but claying,if done properly, doesn't do any harm whatsoever.I wrote this out for someone last night...i'll see if I can dig it out..
I'll search the "how to's" and try to build up the courage! No matter what I throw at this car, it simply cannot present a clearer, swirl free shine. It's darn near freakin' blinding in it's clarity. Hiroshima saw fit to add the tiniest amount of orange peel, but I know the clay won't touch that, and I'm merely gonna accept it. My shrink tells me this is good therapy and a lot cheaper than psychotropic drugs!!!
Sort of apples to oranges comparison there. When you wax your car it should be after washing and/or claying. So you are applying pressure, yes, but to a perfectly clean surface. When wiping down with a quick detailer you're physically coming into contact with the contaminants/dirt/etc and wiping it across the surface. You're counting on the quick detailer to encapsulate the dirt particles and lift them into the microfiber without marring the paint but this may not always happen or your microfiber may trap a larger piece of dirt and abrade the surface that way.
Kinda darned if I do, and darned if I don't. I do, however, always California dust each panel immediately before I've been applying the UQD. I shoulda bought a white '64 Rambler rust bucket!
Thanks for the great answer, Bounty. For some reason the mods tied up my initial thank you to you.
Given the "less touching is better" approach, perhaps I should start using a bit of UQD and UQW instead of the NXT given the slightly lesser surface pressure required...

Since you picked up the car,you have only washed it?
It's only been wet when dealer prepped before I picked it up. The joys of having all the time in the world to tinker with my car now that I'm an old retired in Florida kinda guy!!
