That's great, Jen! Do you know how to use the claybar? If you do not, you might find this video helpful:

I used ColorX on my mom's silver Pontiac GrandAm. Her car was kind of dull looking. I really worked the ColorX in before buffing it out. It made the paint a lot more shiny than before. Plus, you wouldn't absolutely have to use another wax afterwards since ColorX leaves a protective layer on the paint.

Good luck on your mom's car. Looking forward to your write up.

You need to wash the care before claying, you need not wash it after claying. Remember, you are going to be using a fair amount of lubricant on each panel. When you wipe it off with a clean microfiber towel after claying a specific section, you will be wiping off any remaining clay residue.

I know that some folks like to wash their car after claying, but that is by no means common practice.

I suspect you are going to find claying fun and satisfying. Not only will you be amazed by the amount of dirt and contaminants your clay bar will pick up, but you will love the feel of the paint surface after you have clayed.

              Oh thanks Akimel

I thought it sounded a bit strange, as no other articles or videos I've seen mentioned washing the car after, seemed like someone saying you've gotta wash your dishes after to wash them to get the detergent off! haha

Oh..I've thought of another question, sick of me yet? ha, I also read that you only clay the horizontal parts of the car, bonnet & roof. But as my mum's car is in a bit of oh, I got asterix when I said that word last time, umm "bad" condition (sorry about that by the way, didn't realise it was considered a swear word) should I do the doors as well??

Yep, clay the entire car. You can even clay the glass if you want to.

haha, no worries, I actually took it as a compliment, I always find it funny when girls go on forums and make it obvious they're female in the hopes of getting more assistance/attention, especially on car related forums, hehehe.
