    Re: Washing with Water Restrictions

I have been using Optimum No Rinse on 99% of my details since last summer, this product has so many other uses it really is a must have.

Another vote for ONR. I just bought some a few weeks ago and I was able to wash my truck with two gallons of water and I did it in my garage out of the sun. It was a beautiful thing. Check out this thread over at autogeek.

          Re: Washing with Water Restrictions

If you use the "Search" tool on MOL and input the word: ONR, you will find many discussions regarding the pros and cons of using the product(175 hits as of today).

I happen to LOVE ONR!! I try not to talk about non-Meguiar's products on their forum. In the US, Meguiar's doesn't have anything in the "rinse-less" market. So talking about it here, doesn't seem so "dirty"(pun intended).

When Meguiar's produces a Rinse-less, I _WILL_ be one of the first to buy it and try it!!!

You can talk about anything here
            Just no bashing of others
No one "line" can provide "all" the products we would be interested in.
So we have to talk about other products.

I must have missed the part about being on a well. I have a well for my lawn sprinklers and thought I still could only water one a week. Didn't know there were different restrictions for washing cars on well water?

                Re: Washing with Water Restrictions

I have a question. After using ONR, if you wanted to detail by polishing and waxing your car, is the surface of the car good right after ONR or should I re-wipe with water soaked cloth or something? I guess in my head, ONR can get rid of dirt and stuff but since i've never used it, i am imagining that there would be some extra chemicals or something still on the surface. If anyone does a lot of detailing using ONR, i would love to know the process in which you do things.
                i.m. skeptical... of everything.

In my experience the surface should be good to go. It does leave some polymers behind (not much... to me it feels like I just hit it with some quick wax... just a little boost to slickness) but it's nothing you would NEED to remove if you wanted to polish. If you wanted a totally clean and bare surface to clay/polish a wipedown with IPA should cut right through it.

Rick at ADS is now listing Optimum products. ONR is a great deal, IF your needing a waffle weave drying towel. He is also selling Opti-seal, a great product if you like ''wipe on/walk away" type sealants(I do). If he adds some of the other Optimum products, he will be my "one stop shop".

                      Re: Washing with Water Restrictions

Wow Rick would just list ONR after I bought a gallon 2 weeks ago from a separate vendor and I had a huge order going with Rick so I had to pay for individual shipping. Shoot

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

                      I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
                      Remove swirls my friends.

                        Re: Washing with Water Restrictions

I just placed my ADS order with Rick including ONR, Hyperdressing, grit guard etc.

Yesterday, I received a notice of water restrictions at my Laguna Hills condo (SoCal) with potential fines.

The good news: after a Gilmour foam Gold Class wash, I am going start doing mini details on small sections in the garage. Wash(ONR), clay, QD, cleaner wax, #7, NXT(2x). PLanning on starting on the hood.

Going to need more Megs products since water usage/commercial car washes aren't an issue and I can detail more often.
Success is never final, failure is never fatal. It's courage that counts.

                          Re: Washing with Water Restrictions

I need to place my order too. hehe. Unfortunately, I'm pretty low on money now. HOwever, I did get a chance to quickly clay and do a quick polish a couple of days ago so even though it sprinkled a little today, most of it rolled off with ease and afterwards, just sprayed on some QD and looks like the car was just washed. I think I'm going to be spending more time using the QD now due to water restrictions so I need to buy more of that. haha.
