  • Clay Bar Prep Question - Does wash-Wax solution hurt?

I use a Turtle Wax Wash-Wax solution to wash my car and I was wondering if washing my car with this soultion before I clay bar it would hurt the effectiveness of the clay bar since it does have a bit of wax in it or is it not enough wax to matter?

Any reasons why I never seen any pros recommend wash-n-wax, for regular washes in-between waxes ?

My feelings on a wash-n-wax product is that they are kinda contradictory. A wash is meant to removing all impurities sitting on your cars surface and not put a layer of protection on. Most of the time the car wash will only work decent and the wax is almost non-existant. It doesn't make sense to have a cleaner mixed with a protectant....

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

              I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
              Remove swirls my friends.

I agree with Andrew C. The wax left behind is bare minimum. If anything, claying the finish after a wash/wax would probably remove that very bare wax coating anyway. Using a wash/wax should never substitute using a proper wax application as a separate step in maintaining your finish.
