  • Car Show Tips

So I am entering my car in a local car show. It will be a judged event and I know I will be entering in the "stock" category. My car is almost 100% original including ~85% of the paint. Original interior will get me lots of points. I have the original brochure, Chilton and warranty notice, next step is getting the owner's manual.I know I need a fire extinguisher. I will be using Gold Class shampoo to wash, I clayed my car very recently and I will be adding 2 coats of Gold Class paste wax. Hopefully I will be borrowing an orbital buffer.

So Meguiar's community, what else do I need? What should I do?

Check for swirling, nothing spoils a show care more than bad paint and so few people take the time to fix it.

        Thanks guys.

I'm going to pick up some Ultimate Compound and try to work that by hand, followed by a Deep Crystal Cleaner Wax and ColorX polish. Using an orbital buffer and a slim possibility of a rotary.

My original paint has a lot of problem though: amateur restoration on the hood (one half looks slightly different in hue than the other), a mediocre job on a front panel repaint, a badly chipped nose and many small, deep scratches and chips around the body.

I don't really expect to go home with the gold at this event (or any) but I want to go, have fun, show my car and hope for the best. Maybe I'll take home something.

Use some M80 then top with 26 wax. The shine will be great with a nice deep look. Good luck Jim
