  • Using Deep Crystal Polish by hand

Polishing by hand tomorrow on my well maintained Jeep Wrangler (Yeah laugh it up, everybody says I spend too much time detailing a 17 year old Jeep, but I love it). Anyways, I am going to wash with

    Gold Class Shampoo
    Dry with MF towels
Claybar with Smooth surface clay kit
Clean Paint and correct swirls with swirlX 2.0 by hand using a foam applicator pad
Polish using Deep crystal Polish and MF pad
And finally wax with liquid NXT 2.0 using a foam applicator pad.

I have clay barred and waxed before, but never used paint cleaner or polish. Do I apply polish the same way as swirlX? Spread it out onto a 1x1 foot or so surface and then work it in, using a little "passion behind the pad" as Mike says? And then wipe off immediately? Thanks for the help guys. Here is a picture of Ol' Red by the way. At the time of this picture I had never even waxed it before, just washed it once every two weeks or so.

    Thanks for the help.

Your second pic definately shows the nice rich color.

You would want to work in the SwirlX with some passion, then wipe off.

SwirlX is a cleaner/polish, so a pure polish after is optional. You might do a test spot on one panel with DC2, stand back, and see if you see any difference.

As for the DC2, you would want to keep a small work area, maybe a tad bigger, but just masage/rub it in. "Love your car", as Mike would say....

Then when you have maybe 2-3 areas done, wipe them off.

Just have to work on getting some All Season Dressing for the plastic....

Exactly. Work a small section at a time, use about a teaspoon of product to start with as your applicator pad will be dry and soak up some of the product, as your applicator breaks in you'll find it takes less product.

After you work one section, move onto a new section and overlap a little into the previous section. Work each section for about a minute. You can use overlapping circular motions or straight-lines or a combination of both, usually overlapping circular motions work best for applying and working in a cleaner/polish by hand, as well as a pure polish and any type of wax.

Wipe off immediately after working the product as there's no benefit to letting the product dry.

Nice looking Jeep, have fun with it!

I actually have some Armor All I use regularly that I bought a while ago. I plan on using it on the fenders and tires after this next full detail. It was supposed to rain a couple days after I took this picture so I didn't bother Armor all'ing it.

Thanks for the help and the compliments guys! I will take some pictures of it really cleaned up soon!

Wow! What's to laugh at???? More people should feel about their cars the way you do about your Wrangler. Your Jeep looks better at 17 than plenty of Mercedes, Porsches and Corvettes do at 2.

You just keep on doing what you're doing, I think it's fantastic!!

Yeah, you're jeep looks off the factory floor! My buggy is 15 and i treat the same way as i would with a brand new car.

An' never mind what others think! My neebor's think i'm nutty the way i look after cars, but it don't bother me.I get more satisfaction out of my work,to worry about what they think. The point is,they know nothing about looking after cars, nor do they understand why your's is sooooo much nicer than theirs, even if they have more expensive cars!
