WW microfibre drying towel

Do you guys dry your car as if its a chamois? I heard from autopia that they actually let the towel out. Let the water absorb then move to the next section. Is'nt that a bit time consuming. Or do you guys just wipe it down.

Also did you guys wash your drying towel first before using?

I washed mine before I used it, just to be safe. I have heard of people putting it on the car and letting it absorb water but I agree that just takes to long. I use mine like a chamois. I always pull it off in one direction though, back to front. Then wring it out and attack the next panel.
