  • Orbatial Polisher Pad Help

    Hi

I purchased a 6" Porter Cable 7424 Orbatial Polisher, and would like to use
the Meguiar's backer, polishing and waxing pads however I'm not sure which ones to order. The polisher is very similar to the Meguires one with the foam pad attached.

I believe I will be starting out with ScratchX 2 to remove some minor swirl marks and scratches, then finishing with NTX Tech Wax 2 Liquid.
And perhaps topping with the gold class.

The car is a 2009 Challenger RT brilliant metalic Black.

If any "kits" are available that would be great.

Also, from the online store how long do you think Delivery to Toronto would be?

    Thanks
    Brian

    Re: Orbatial Polisher Pad Help

You have a "DA" dual action polisher and not an orbital
    Get Meg's backing plate
The pads I would recomend are

    SoftBuff 2.0 Cutting Pad - (7”)
    SoftBuff 2.0 Finishing Pad - (7”)
    SoftBuff 2.0 Polishing Pad - (7”)

As far as products go, DO A TEST SPOT FIRST!
And start with the LEAST agressive first, here's a scale:
Aggressiveness Order for New Consumer Products

Since we introduced these 3 new swirl and scratch removers in our Consumer Line and our new M205 Ultra Finishing Polish in our Professional line, many people have asked how aggressive these new products are as compared to some of our existing products that our forum members are already familiar with to help them understand the cleaning and/or abrading ability of these new products I've listed them in order of most aggressive to least aggressive reading from left to right.

(Apologies ahead of time if you have to horizontal scroll)

Most aggressive to least aggressive -->

Have you ever used a DA before? Where are you in T.O.?

Your best bet is to browse eshine, but you won't find the backing plate for the G110. http://www.eshine.ca/products.php?cat=28

They have a 5" backing plate, as well as one for 4" pads. I think you need a bit more of a plan before you get started. I'm not sure if the 5" pack plate works with the Megs pads or not.

In any event, if you want send me a PM and I'll give you some of my thoughts.

        Re: Orbatial Polisher Pad Help

        Thanks for the replys guys.

I'm a newb to the DA Polisher ...the Instruction Booklet says
Double Insulated Random Orbit 5" Sander/6" polisher.
..Hope i purchased the correct one. I understand DA stands for Dual Action are they polishing/Sanding?

I really do require a plan I'm just in the learning stage at the moment.
so any and all help would be appreciated.

        3Fitty- PM sent, Thasnks
