  • protection on new paint?

    Hi All,

I've just got my new bodykit, a new front bumper and side skirt.

I know new paint need wait for at least 30 days before we can polish or wax.

However, since the paint job is quite good and I want to give it some protection before a full wax job.

Can I use UQD to clean it and does UQD provide certain amount of protection to it ?

    Thanks

    Kith

I believe that you should no put anything on the paint what so ever.
The paint gives off this gas I believe, and even UQD will trap that in.
The reason is, UQD has the Hydrophobic Polymer Technology, and this will sit on the paint just like a wax would.

Carefire is correct. You don't want to apply anything that has silicone in it. I asked this precise question a few months ago here on MOL, and I was informed not to use any of Meguiar's quick detailers, except Final Inspection (M34).

Another possibility for you is to gently apply a thin coat of M80. It has a paintable polymer. See this thread: M80, Paintable Polymer, and Fresh Paint. I would still wait a couple of weeks, though, to allow the paint to harden up more fully, since M80 does contain a mild abrasive, but that is purely my personal and very unprofessional opinion.

        thanks guys.

So, is it even the normal quik detailer (which came with the clay kit) will do no good ?

Right. You must use a detailing spray that is approved for body shops.
