Perhaps clay residue?
Perhaps something on the towel?
I can't explain what you are experiencing. It doesn't sound like how those products are expected to perform. Especially M205, it was built to have the fastest/cleanest wipe off in the industry. We have many raves supporting this performance target.
I wish I could be of more help to you, but I can't really explain what you are seeing.

I'd be willing to bet that you are not seeing the saturation of your towel, and continuing to use it. This in turn, is not removing all traces of M205, and therefore, you are getting your streaking issue. This is just a guess, and I'm probably completely wrong here

Try using foamed glass cleaner for the final wipe down of the panel with a fresh towel. I use Sprayway, but others should work.
(Thanks for the tip, Nick).

I don't know whats going on here. Maybe wipe the entire vehicle down with a quick detailer, then move on to wax. Wiping it down nefore you wax(which everyone should be doing anyways) will ensure that you have removed all traces of product off the vehicle.

Edit: Do not wax between M105 and M205. There is no need to do this at all, as the M205 will just remove the wax.
