I have a Black 07 Escalade. Pretty new to this all, and have been learning a lot on the forums. What do you recommend.

Re: Black 07 Escalade with Swirls
Welcome to Meguiars Online!!
Probably Swirl X, maybe Ultimate Compound if it is bad.
I would clay first, after the wash.
Then Swirl X or Ultimate Compound.

Re: Black 07 Escalade with Swirls
If only it was that easy. Go into a forum, tell what you have and ask what you need. Pictures would help, but you still have to choose the right products, know how to apply/remove them correctly (especially if a machine is needed), etc, etc. A lot could go wrong if you're new and just dive right into polishing a vehicle without knowing the right techniques... But post some pictures, and we'll do our best to help.'05 Arctic Blue Pearl Acura TSX

From my experience the Base coat and CC are very thin
When they prime these they use a colored primer and therefore they can use less paint.
Just my experience, I cringe when I see one with paint damage.
HUH?
How many Cadillac Escalades have you detailed (from "your experience") and measured the paint thickness of in order to have come that conclusion?????
How did you measure the base coat thickness?
How did you measure the BC/CC thickness on the liftgate?

To the OP, just take your time and don't get frustrated or carried away. Start with the least aggressive method, and work up from there. Find something you're satisfied with, and go for it. If you're doing it all by hand.....good luck
Paint is thin, as it is on ALL vehicles from the factory. But the primer and base have no reflection on the clear. Most all vehicles from the factory come with 1-1.5 mils of clear applied, and this is all you will be working on. Primer and base have no bearing on our work.

Re: Black 07 Escalade with Swirls
I am not trying to be mean...
When someone makes a bold statement, there needs be verification in order to not to create misinformation. I simply want to know how Mario measured the Escalades to come to his conclusions as this information could be helpful to all MOL members.

Thanks for chimming in Nick
Tim is wants to prove me wrong when ever he can
This is not his first "attack" on me
It's ok, he does have a point, just needs to be nicer when tring to call someone out.
Mario I am disappointed. As I simply explained I want to know how you measured the Escalades? You said from "your experience" and not Mike Phillips' experience. I wanted you to explain so that it could benefit others.
I would appreciate that you did not accuse me of calling you out. When you make bold statements, they will be determined as fact by MOL members, even when they are incorrect. Mario, do not take this the wrong way, and I mean this in all kindness, you need to make statements from your own experience and not from someone elses, because if they are wrong, you are simply perpetuating the misinformation. See what I mean?I have no desire to prove you or anyone else wrong. But I will correct misinformation or ask for clarification of "Fact" as I simply have done here.
