  • Wash Mitts - Sheepskin vs MF vs Chanelle

ok guys, im in dire need of a new wash mitt. Im currently using about an 6-8 yr old sheepskin wash mitt and all the wool is falling out of it. I also got a gift pack for christmas a couple years back from Megs. and it had a white Chanelle wash sponge thing in it, ive used that a few times on paint but was somewhat nervous about inducing scratches/swirls so i went back to my sheepskin and use the chanelle for my wheels/exhaust tip now.

What id like to know, is which one is the safest for basically any paint, from delicate to paint that really doesnt "flinch" as long as its not an SOS/Brillo pad being used on it. Ive always leaned towards the sheepskin, but if theres something out that thats better i will for sure try it.

    Let me know guys

    Thanks
    C.C.

They are both really good products.
My personal preference would be the Lambswool Wash Mitt

I use sheepskin mitt I have never used the others.
I have good results with the old sheepskin so if it ain't broke don't try to fix it.

You'll be perfectly fine with either of them.

I use either the Meguiars Microfiber Wash mitt, or the discontinued Ultra Plush Chenille Wash Pad. On occasion I use the Professional grade Wash sponge as well for dirtier areas.

ok so the general consensus is to just keep using my lambswool mitt?

No, 6-8 years old and the wool is falling out? you need to buy a new one. Buy two, in case you drop one during a wash. A good sheepskin or lambswool mitt will run between $8-$10. Don't fall for the cheap mitts that look like wool, they're made of polyester. Sheep or lambs wool will actually have animal hide lining the inside of the mitt. Mother's makes a nice one.

I like the microfiber mitt. However if you like the lambswool, get yourself a couple of new ones. I think after 8-9 years you got your monies worth. It is time to get new ones.

I'm currently using an MF mitt, but I really have no preference. I just go out and buy whatever seems the softest and least likely to fall apart in a week. Once I buy a new mitt, I demote the old one to wheel duty.

I have a microfiber chenille mitt and a lambswool mitt. I use the microfiber mitt most of the time, and I save the lambswool mitt as my "treat" to myself once in a while when I want to wash with something a bit more luxurious. I know, that's kinda weird, but that's what I do. I think I got both of my wash mitts at Advance Auto Parts. They're both really good quality mitts, so that works for me.

Microfiber chenille mitt (just like mine)

They all work great, I prefer Microfiber Mitts for the long lasting durability.... But I don't like the "Chenille" style.
