You are supposed to apply #7 before you use your LSP (Last Step Product), in your case NXT 2.0. It is not vital to use #7 as it is an optional step for the sole purpose of looks. If you want to apply #7, I would suggest washing your car with Gold Class or NXT Car Wash, then claying the entire car to remove the Wax. From there apply #7 followed by NXT.

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
    Remove swirls my friends.

Well, if your car hasn't been prepped properly, you're probably not maximizing the look of the paint.

      I'd recommend:

      1. Wash

      2. Clay

      3. ColorX

      4. M07

      5 NXT 2.0 x 2

Fitty and J.A., would the wax the color x leaves behind have any sort of affect on the #7 not working properly? I just thought you always used #7 before any type of wax was applied?

I'm not 100% but Meguiars products are usually made to work with one another. If you're concerned it will affect bonding, you might want to try DC1, instead, although I think Murr always uses ColorX with no bonding issues.

You could use #7 after ColorX, then wax over it, but it is kind of a waste of time and effort.

If you are going to use seperate polish and wax poducts, you may as well use a dedicated cleaner as well.

Re: #7 and 2.0 Tech Wax

The best protection would be Nxt 2.0.

The best shine comes from doing the proper prep work. Either:

                    1. Wash
                    2. Clay
                    3. ColorX
                    4. Wax - Nxt 2.0

                    or:

                    1. Wash
                    2. Clay
                    3. Clean - DC#1, or SwirlX are good starts
                    4. Polish - #7
                    5. Wax - Nxt 2.0
                    6. Wax - Nxt 2.0

Re: #7 and 2.0 Tech Wax

Gold Class is pretty top of the line...

Though I think Nxt cleans a little better, and can help with hard water.

I like Nxt Insane Shine Trigger spray, but you'll get lots of opinions on that.

Try Hot Shine Tire Gel or Endurance High Gloss. They both give good results and a lot of folks on here use them with good results.

But i like Hot Shine Tire Gel, Hot Shine Tire Foam, and NXT Insane Shine in the trigger version.
