The rear bumper you wont fix yourself, unless you know how to spray paint.

As for the hood, I can't really tell from the pics, is that above the surface or below? Can you feel it if you run your hand or fingernail over it?

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

I can't exactly tell from the picture but it looks like clear coat failure to me which you can do nothing about other than get a repaint. Is the stuff on the hood flaking off?

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

        I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
        Remove swirls my friends.

I also think clear coat failure. Sorry.

The hood looks more like a spill than clear/coat failure, but cant be sure.

I agree, can you feel anything, anything flaking off?

                  to MOL!

If it's flaking, looks like clear coat failure and your blowing off the clear with the pressure.....Looks like a repaint on both accounts unless your really good with touch up paint on the bumper (apply, sand, apply sand, sand buff etc). If it's just on the hood, it should match good if a reputable shop does it without worry on the rest of the car.

                    Hello and welcome to mol.

It looks like clear coat failure. Especially since you stated it was flakinf off.

As for the rear bumper, That needs to be repainted.

Re: HI New with a question!

Stick a fork in it... it's done...

The only honest fix for the problem is to repaint the affected panels or the entire car.

Nothing you pour out of a bottle or scoop out of a can will fix clear coat failure.

Because this topic comes up all the time we created this thread to show more examples of what can't be fixed...

At this point it doesn't matter... washing won't make or break what's already breaking...

                            If that makes sense...

Waxing the basecoat won't help much so maybe just take care of any good paint that's still on the car.

Good forum name by the way... I could have benefited by it but Mike doesn't rhyme with messy...
