  • what to use on my 04 Mustang's paint?

Hi guys I have a 2004 Mustang colour is torch red which is a bright red.
The car has very low miles and is not daily driven.

The paint is mint, hardly any swirles.

My question is what should I use for ultimate shine and protection?

My plan is to wash the car with Dawn, then claybar it and put a coat of NXT Tech 2.0 wax

will this be a good idea? I dont mind waxing the car every month if needed

No need to wash with Dawn first, just use a quality car wash soap instead. Dawn is a strong detergent and overkill for what you want to do.

NXT Tech Wax is very good at masking very fine or shallow swirls so it should work really well on your Mustang's paint.

If you want to do an extra step to remove some of the light or shallow swirls then use some SwirlX after claying and before waxing.

Sounds good thank you very much!
The car doesnt really have any scratches or swirles to the naked eye so Iw ill skip the scratchX step this time and see how I like the results from the clay and tech wa 2.0
I will post pics when Im done. Should be able to do it Thursday or Friday

          thanks again!

            Thanks.
I was thining to use Dawn because I can see my car was waxed not long ago and Im not sure what wax was used (I recently purchased the car) I heard a horror story that a friend of mine used one brand of wax ontop of another and it up blurring his paint. He ended up using some heavy duty wax stripper to get it all off and the paint went back to normal after some more waxing. It turned out it was because the 2 different name brand waxes went together were not supposed to.

I think I will skip the scratchX step because in sunlight my car does not really have much swirles or scratches. I think the little bit it does have the tech 2.0 wax will take care of.

            thanks for the quick replies.

One more Question. The temp on Thursday is going to be 55 degrees.
Is this an ok temp to clay/wax or will I just have to wait longer for the wax to dry?

That's on the cold side of the spectrum and it will tend to take longer for a wax to fully dry.
