you don't need to use Color-X if you use UC.
UC will do what you want with no problem
but you can if you want

Re: My MR2 is ugly... Please help.

Here is my plan, also going to store to buy the Meguiar's products today

after read the helpful comments, i will probably be doing this by hand now.
I'll probably do a 2x2 on the hood, thats where most of the swirls and oxidation is.

1.Wash car(Already have NXT gen car wash soap)

      2.Clay car(Meguiar's clay bar)

3.Buy and use the Ultimate Compound

      4.Also buy and use swirlx

5.Then use NXT tech wax (already have some of that)

Pretty sure thats it, did I leave anything out?

I'm excited, Thanks for all your help.

After you wash, and clay your car, try some M80 before any compounding.
That Toyota has Single Stage paint, which means there is no clear coat protecting it, so what you see is normal.

If the M80 does not remove the scratches, I would then try some compound on an as needed basis. But first, i would check the thickness of the paint, because you do not know how much the prior owner removed doing the same thing.....

If you can't get the DA polisher I would certainly try to do it by hand. All these new products are great for the job.

It will take time and it will require many passes but the results will be worth it. Considering you have a lot of paint defects to work on at the same time I would divide the work. Do the hood one day, one side another day, etc. You will probably put more energy into the project this way and achieve better results.

I would order some Megs foam applicators from ADS. Like 2 packs of 4 each would be good. You will use them later anyways.

The rest you can get it locally. Clay bar, UC, wax, etc.
