  • Couple Questions

My friend Just bought a car (older honda accord) and there is some peeling clear coat. Is there anything I can do to make it look nicer? Or if i hit it with the buffer will it just peel more.

Also, same friend, diffrent car. New paint. When should we put wax on it? Thanks

    Re: Couple Questions

When you use a buffer or DA it removes some clear coat.
So IMO if you did that it could make the car look better, because more clear coat would be gone.
On the other hand, it depends on how big the spots are and where they are.
Also buffers and DA only take off minimal amounts of clear coat.

As for your other question, wait between 30-90 days after the car was painted before applying wax to let the gases escape.

You can't do much for the paint, you can improve the surrounding areas, depending on how bad it is....We have our oldest's old car and it has bad oxidization and some peeling, but I'm gonna hit it with something to improve it and get rid of it.

Here's a thread by Nick Chapman on a car he did with some CC failing, he did a great job.

              Hey,

If the CC is failing there is nothing that can be done except a repaint. But until that happens you can, as suggested above, apply a wax to the surrounding area. But once CC failure starts, there is nothing that can be done. Sorry.

Well I had known that. But I was trying to figure out that if we went over the area with peeling paint, would it just keep peeling up more paint. Or would it be safe to buff? I am just trying to make it look better. lol

Buff out a little section first
I would just go for it! What your going to make it worse? I think you'll be fine.
