SwirlX

Looking for comments/opinions on using SwirlX with LC gray pads on a PC. I know this would not give much, if any, correction but do you think I would get the effect of the polish? I know that Meg's make other "pure polishes', but with the over the counter availibility of SwirlX I was just looking for opinions.

Just so you Know:
A pure polish is a polish with not aggressiveness in it. It's soul purpose is to deepen the paint.
A polish contains diminishing abrasives for example is will take out light scratches or swirls and deepen the paint. (Some polishes are stronger than others)
So to sum it up SwirlX is not a pure polish, it is meant to take out light swirls and scratches.

Don't underestimate SwirlX. With a polishing pad and appropriately applied pressure, it can effectively remove many swirls and scratches. Meguiar's rates it as being more aggressive than M83 (see Aggressiveness Order for New Consumer Products). You may find that you will want to complement SwirlX with Ultimate Compound. It all depends on the paint you are working on.

The big question is your choice of pads. Is the grey pad a polishing pad or a finishing pad? I may be mistaken, but I think it is the latter. If I'm right, then you have chosen the wrong pad for paint correction. I think you want either the white or orange pad; but our pros can tell you which LC pad would be best.

i used swirlx with a white pad(LC) and did a few passes on a test spot and did not see the swirls gone. should i go to an orange pad(lc) or should i go to UC?

the test spot(1/2 my hood) was washed/clayed/washed before testing.

i broke down my 1/2 hood into 4 sections. 2008 jeep grand cherokee

Depending on the hardness of the paint, Swirl-X might not be able to get those out. They look pretty deep to me.

Definitely bump up to the LC orange (but do not go to the LC Yellow). If that doesn't work, then give UC a try. Heck, I used UC on a LC green on my sister's black VW and it did the trick of removing 90% of the defects.

awesome bro thanks!!! i will try to get better pictures. they arent as deep as they look...

the swirls are hard to capture with the flakes in my paint! anyone know about the hardness of the CC of Jeeps?
