  • Did not know as much as I thought I did

I bought a new 2008 Chevy Silverado last March. The first thing I did was threw out all my old mismatch carwash/detail products and bought all Meguiars products. I even bought a new bucket just for my new truck. Well, I thought I was totally prepaired and of course I knew everything I needed to know about washing and waxing (I thought). One day I was coming out of the Gym, I looked at my truck with the sun hitting it, and all I could see was fine swirl marks all over it. Well I came to this site and started doing some reading, and I think that my washing and drying habits are the reason for all the swirls. I watched the video about washing and drying your car, and all I can say is that I am guilty of doing almost everything that the video tells you NOT to do. Now, I am looking to order a G110 and a couple of 5 gal. buckets w/ grit guards.
I have just had a 30ft. x 40ft. garage put up at my house. I'm doing the electrical right now. I can't wait to get the truck in there so that I can do some major detailing to it. It's getting very dirty sitting outside all the time.

No pics yet. Mine is Ruby Red Metallic (I think that is what it is called).
As far as a process goes, I am looking at a kit on Auto Geek that has the G110 and some Lake Country pads. When I get my G110 I was thinking of getting some swirl-X and give it a try. Well, after I wash and clay the truck. then wax .

sounds like you have a nice truck and a good process, Ruby Red Metallic is a nice color. I like the new woodland green that came out this year on the Silverados

          best of luck!

Thanks, Yea the Ruby red is a nice color. I think that I like the shade of red that is on your truck a little better though. I mean I like my color, but I've always liked that brite shade of red.

Good luck with the whole process. Just take your time and do the steps right.

I catch myself always looking at cars when I am walking by or at a red light etc,.."look at all the swirls in that car"

                  Congrats on the truck.

It sounds like you figured out your problem. Good luck with the full detail.

Make sure you post some pics of the process.

One of the most common comments we get at the end of a Saturday Clinic is "I've been waxing my cars for 25 years and today I just found out I've been doing wrong the whole time"

I will work on getting pictures of the garage and truck posted. I wish I would have taken pictures of it being built, but I dropped the ball on that.

Yes, I am getting the kit from ADS along with a bunch of other goodies, all for about the same price that I was looking at for the kit at Auto geek.
