If you have a good quality digital camera, frame up a before shot and try to get a couple of really good shots.

Next, place some blue painter's tape down the middle of the scoured area.

Now apply Ultimate Compound to just one half of the taped-off section. Apply about a teaspoon of UC to a foam applicator pad and then work it for about a minute back and forth over the paint. Wipe off the residue and inspect. Repeat until all or most of the scratches are gone. There is a limited amount of clear paint to work with so don't rub the area too much or you'll expose the color coat and the panel will have to be re-painted.

After you rub-out one half to your satisfaction, apply some wax let dry and remove then remove the tape and take some after shots.

      Then share on the forum!

      Or

      Just work on your car...

Thanks MIKE!! That's a very thorough, step by step instructions and I can easily follow it. I'll glady take the before and the after shot and will post it on this forum. Depends on how it goes for this first-timer, maybe you guys will get a good laugh out of it ( hopefully, i won't mess it up so bad ).

Oh by the way, I have a question. Do I need to clean up the spot first, then clay it, tape it, and apply the ultimate compound? thank you in advance for your patience.

Yes. Wash and dry the car first, always work on a clean surface.

The scoured area should be free of any aboves surface bonded contaminants so it's you option, you can clay the surrounding paint before starting as there will be some overlap onto surrounding paint when you go to wax the paint after you remove the scratches.

Other than that though, just work the scratches out to your satisfaction and then if the paint is clear and glossy you can go straight to wax or if it's hazy at all then re-polish that area using the SwirlX and then go to wax.
