hello Mike, i read your articles and i'm learning lots. thanks for all the helpful info. i am new to this hobby, i use to do friends and family cars in high school all by hand, but i believe those day are over.
i'm using the pc with dacp and a cutting pad, although this car really needs a rotary! (currently looking for a school or someone to train me on rotary, having a hard time though) i am very surprised at how well this pc and dacp are doing. (beats using my hands for sure) it takes me 2 passes dacp w/cutting and 2-3 #80 passes w/ polishing pad. (both with meguire's pads). and i still find small micromarring, but it's only visable under a 500watt halogen, with my eyes a few inches from the finish.(wish i could get this out completly) thanks, edLast edited by cheapthrills; Oct 1, 2004, 01:44 PM.

I've heard it's good to follow 83 with a cutting pad with 83 on the polishing pad then probably 80 followed by 81.
You might be able to skip the second application of 83 and just go with 80 then 81.
Hope this helps!
P.S. - Meguiar's does not reccommend using the cutting pad and 83 on the PC.

hey Mike i 'm surprised not to hear from ya? i know your probably very busy, acually it surprises me how well this product works and what little response i got from others on the board.
i am using the cutting pad w/dacp, two passes gets most areas very good fine scraches and swirls are gone. leaving me to see those few deeper scratches (are not very noticable, and would be better handled using a rotary) after this i switch to the polishing pad and hit the area using #80 2-3 times. (could this product leave slight marring? the cars finish is black) all in all the finish is in so much better shape. i was thinking about trying this.
-dacp cutting pad
-dacp polishing pad?(if it is not cutting enough, use the above method 2 times, then follow with polishing pad)
-#80 2-3 times polishing pad
would the polishing pad w/dacp help me out, before going to #80? and could this take care of the micromarring? or or would it be better to use say dacp, 80, 82?
thanks, edLast edited by cheapthrills; Oct 3, 2004, 06:30 AM.

I'm looking into learning the rotary. the car i was working on was in pretty bad shape, (needed a rotary) the pc polishing pad was not doing it even after 3 passes with dacp, this is why i used the cutting. two pases removed all swirls and fine scratches, but left micro marring, the 80 removed some and lighted it up pretty much, but did not completely remove it.

Here's some information I posted recently on the topic of what a rotary buffer and a dual action polisher can achieve.
PC+83 not "cutting" it!
Hope this helps...
