  • What is your process after compounding and polishing?

Car is a torch Red '02 Z06 with pretty good paint. Having owned only red cars for a while, I have basically used Mothers glaze, NXT 2.0 followed by a layer of Liquid Gold Class. For some reason, this time the Gold Class streaked the finish really bad. I was able to remove most of the streaks with the Quick Detailer. But after4 years maybe it is time to change. I used the above because it was available locally, but that is not a big concern now. What are you doing to finish up. Car is garage kept and a a daily driver except in the rain if that matters. Thoughts would be appreciated. Here is a couple of pics after the above routine:

    Very cool cars!

Are you looking for just a different wax routine? Or did you want a total detailing solution complete with polishing to really take your finish to the next level?

Do you have any power polishers? Open to getting one?

I really like carnauba's like #16 or #26 on my red TSX.

Nice pair of cars BTW and welcome to MOL!

I actually just finish compounding and polishing using the pc and LC pads with 3Ms 390001 compound and the 390003 polish. I was just looking for a different routine. A friend was telling me I didn't need the glaze between polishing and waxing, and also, that the Gold Class was not a good wax to put over the NXT. Seems like I read on this forum a few years back that a carnuba(Gold Class) worked well over a polymer (NXT) wax. For some reason, not this time. He did suggest the M21 over the NXT. I am just looking for a different routine for now.

Gold Class is actually considered a "polish/wax".

M21 is very similar to NXT and I don't think you would see any benifit in topping NXT with it.

Typically most users who top waxes/sealants with another product will use a carnauba. I personaly prefer to just do 2 coats of the same wax. You should be able to mix any combinations of Meguiars waxes without issue as alll Meguiars products are desinged to work with one another. It's possible the streaking you had came from other factors like humidity, drying time, too thick of an application...

Best thing to do is tape off a few sections and compare the waxes themselves and maybe even a few that are topped with another wax.

I found some to have more of a darkening effect to the paint, but it was only noticeable at certain time of the day.

          Hope this helps,

Good idea. I may try some different combos on my hood as it is pretty big.
