  • Can you guys help me and recomend some products for me?

I have a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix Daytona Pace Car that I bought and want to take good care of, it's in above average condition for a car that is 11 years old IMO, but it does have some swirls and random mild scratchs that I would like to make look better/disapear. If you are not familiar with the 98 Pace cars they are a Medium Gulf Blue Met. paint.

I also own a 2001 Chevrolet Impala LS that I would like to start taking better care of. This car is a Tan Met. paint. Same issues with this car as the Pontiac for the most part.

I'm looking at making an order with ADS in the near future and from the reading i've done so far this is what I'm looking at getting

    1. http://www.autodetailingsolutions.net/g110-kit-1.html
    2. http://www.autodetailingsolutions.net/m10512.html
    3. http://www.autodetailingsolutions.net/m2116.html
    4. http://www.autodetailingsolutions.ne...k-special.html
    5. http://www.autodetailingsolutions.net/g4116.html
    6. http://www.autodetailingsolutions.net/d10332.html

Is there anything on that list I should change, add, or remove?

I already have a few bottles of the plain jane Meguiars Quick Detailer, a huge pile of MF towels and some claybars that I havn't even used yet!

As far as Pads are concerned I was planning on picking up these in the pack of them linked above:

    1-Orange
    2-Green
    2-Black
    1-Red

My plan of attack for both cars was this.

#105 on the Orange for any scratchs.
#105 on the Green on the entire car to remove the swirls as best as possible.
#205 on the Black on the entire car to really bring up the shine.
    #21 on the Red.

Sound good? Any changes you would recomend?

    Hey your list looks great.

If you would rather get the LC Pads that's fine, but I recommend the new Soft Buff 2.0 Polishing and Finishing Pads. They both work great.

M21 works nice or you could get NXT 2.0

Sounds Like your set. Your procedure looks good too.

I might add a bottle on Scratchx 2.0 to your arsenal for those times when you want to remove a light scratch by hand, or for fresh bird droppings. I most recently used it and liked it. However, I have just ordered the M105, as I have a vehicle with scratches that are too deep for Scratchx 2.0 to completely remove.

A note on the Natural Shine: Great product without that greasy look like Armor All. I was pleased that NS doesn't have a reflective shine, but more like a natural new car interior gloss.

Any benefits of the Soft Buff's over the LC's? I picked the LC's for the fact that I've seen tons of people get great results with them and they are cheaper than the six pack of the soft buff's so I didn't feel I would gain much for the money invested.

Thanks for the tip on the Scratch X 2.0 but it's easily accessed locally if needed.

The flat new car look is exactly what I'm after, I detest that shiny dash look.

I appreciate the comments! Keep em coming if ya got em!

Also, what would you guys recommend for a soap/shampoo/wash?

For soap, Gold Class, Nxt, #62.... all good choices.

Be sure to get at least one GritGuard as well.

#105 can be used by hand, so you will be fine. You will probably want to do some test spots with the #205 before jumping straight to the #105. Might not need to use it on everything.

You'll probably want a spray bottle as well to go with your APC+, and maybe a pump or two as well.

I am planning on the 2 bucket system, would a gritgaurd in the rinse bucket be required?

I'll be sure to snag a spray bottle aswell!

            Thanks

Well, nothing is 'required', but it is kind of nice to drag your mitt on to get all the dirt off. And then seeing the dirt at the bottom of the rinse bucket under the GritGuard after washing seems to indicate it is helping.

I think it's better off to use a Grit Guard in the rinse bucket, than the wash.

If you don't have a spray bottle make sure you get one of those along with a Trigger Sprayer

We can't determine the condition of the paint surface yet, but ScratchX 2.0 or SwirlX would be nice. I guarantee that you will buy either down the road...

I don't doubt I will end up with some Scratch or Swirl X but those two are readily available anywhere I can just pick them up when it is deemed they are needed.

Gonna add or pick up a spray bottle as well.

Good thought on the grit guard.
