  • Use of M205

Planning for the Spring season of detailing and have been reading posts about M205. My wife drives a 2001 Volvo S60. Paint is in good condition. My previous use of M80 & M83 have improved it, but not much. Can I use M205 by itself to buff out scratches and swirls? Or will I have to use something else? Using DA.

    Re: Use of M205

If 80 and 83 didn't do enough, then 205 will probably not have enough punch by itself, 205 is equal to 80 in power, here's a chart....

I think you will need a 1-2 punch, start out with either 105 from the pro line or ultimate compound from the prosumer line, then refine the shine with either 205 or swirl-X from the prosumer line, then top with your LSP

I see now. I should start with M105 instead.

      THANKS!

Thats strange, all the Volvo's I've worked on are pretty soft on the paint scale. M80 should of made some type of improvement on it. Are you using enough pressure? What pad? Working it long enough? I love when a Volvo shows up for me to work on, because they are so easy to do. Take a lot less time than other vehicles. For me, Volvo's are the same as Honda's paint, nice and soft.

M105 will indeed knock out almost everything, then follow up with M205. But you should be having some pretty decent results with the 83/80 combo also.

Of course technique could be part of my problem on my wife's Volvo. I am always looking for a new product which will improve the appearance of the cars I detail before focusing on my own technique.
