  • Hard water blues

The water where I live is very hard and leaves spots. Does anyone know of a small water softener that works with a hose?
I saw it on the Internet...it must be true!

I have been thinking about an in-line water filtration kit from Lowes or Home Depot. These may "filter" water but do they really soften the water?

Thanks for the replys guys. Two questions:

              What exactly is De Ionizaton?

Does the Costco gizmo attach to a hose? Picture?

Just looked at the CR spotless website, which system did you guys get? Still don't understand the De Ionization thing. Is it the same as water softening? My problem is too many minerals, mainly calcium, in the city water.

I am confused... I have well water which I thought was notoriously bad with water spots. I don't have problems unless I let the water sit on the car too long. I thought city water was supposed to be rid of that kind of stuff.

They only have to meet the standards which aren't that high but if you go to some cities they have better water then others because of the city itself...some water bottling companies go just to some places and fill in tap water because its so clean...i forgot the company and cities but i read an article about this 1~2 yrs. ago

Try NXT car wash, i think it has softners in it and combats hard water a little bit better, its worth a try

I hesitate to admit I have one, but I use a Mr.Clean water gun solely for it's deionized water cartridge on my final rinse. The 10-use cartridges sell for around $6 at Target and while it's not perfect, it does seem to reduce water spotting and mineralization.

                          Thanks, I'll check it out.

So is deionizing the same as softening? Anyone know?

I think de-ionizing is the process of making it softer.

After lots of research I ended up buying a CR Spotless. This thing is great - no more trouble with water spots! I found a very good deal online, better than Costco. Is it OK to say where?
