  • Which Products Should I Use?

I'm new to this forum so hello to everyone.

I started using Meguiars products a couple of years when I bought a new car. However, I was limited to which ones I could use as the car had paint protection. I recently traded it in (about 7 weeks ago) and bought another new car, this time without paint protection.

There is such a wide range of products that I'm a little confused as to which ones I should be using. I wash the car every weekend using either Soft Gel Wash or Gold Class Wash. I switched to Nxt Generation Car Wash last weeks. I use Quik Detailer every couple of days to keep the car looking good.

I have Quik Wax, Deep Crystal Wetlook Polymer Sealant, Gold Class Wax and Nxt Generation Tech Wax. Which one is the best to use to keep my car looking good, keeping in mind it's only 7 weeks old? Is Quik Wax used in between waxes to provide extra protection and to maintain the finish? I don't have a garage or carport so the car is always outside.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Regards,

    Steve

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

Well, I think it depends on the level of results you want to achieve and it's all subjective.. It also depends if your car has swirls and you want to remove them or not. This happens even with new cars. Well, right now, I would just suggest using your NXT Tech Wax at least once a month. Not only does it give an incredible shine, it also adds a really strong shield to the car's finish. Also, apply 2 coats at around 12-24 hours apart.

You could also apply a pure polish before that such as #7 Show Car Glaze or #81 Hand Polish to deepen and make the paint richer in color but I don't think you need that right now.

      Hi Steve,

      Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

Basically, the best thing to do is to develop a car care maintenance program and stick with it. This includes what Meguiar's developed decades ago and calls,

      Meguiar's 5-Step Paint Care Cycle

      Step 1 Wash
      Step 2 Clean
      Step 3 Polish
      Step 4 Protect
      Step 5 Maintain

Out of the products that you have available to you, do a little experimenting and find out which ones you like best, that is which ones make you car look it's best and you enjoy using. Then stick with them.

      My signature line says,

”Find something you like and use it often”

If you find a product you like, then apparently the results look good in your eyes, if you use it often, then your finish will always look great. It's only when you begin to neglect or abuse the finish that it goes down hill.

I've been using that signature for I think over 10 years because it's true. For our new Honda Pilot, I wash with NXT Generation Car Wash, for washing I really like this tool to go with my car wash,

      Grit Guard Insert

I protect with NXT Tech Wax, and I maintain it with Quik Detailer and NXT Spray Wax. I haven't polished it yet but when I do, I will use Speed Glaze with the G-100, so far it looks pretty good with just the wax.

For the interior leather I have been using Gold Class Rich Leather Spray

I like this product because it cleans, conditions and protects in one step. I mist some onto a clean Ultimate Wipe microfiber and then wipe down the leather surfaces. I can see the dirt it removes because the Ultimate Wipe is white and after wiping down the leather it usually ends up a dingy gray color.

I use the NXT Generation Tech Protectant

I apply this with foam applicator pad, allow the product to penetrate and then wipe down any excess with a clean Ultimate Wipe. This leaves the surface clean, protected and looking new. Lynn likes me to use Gold Class Endurance on the tires.

It's a system I use to keep the Pilot looking brand new all of the time.

All of the Meguiar's waxes you listed will do a great job of protecting your car's paint and making it look good. The NXT Tech Wax is Meguiar's best protecting and longest lasting wax. As to your question about the NXT Spray Wax, this is a product for use in-between regular washing and waxing to restore that just waxed look. It is not a quick detailer however and if your car is always parked outside you will want to make sure the finish is clean before applying it. This means you will need to either wash the car or use a product like Meguiar's Quik Detailer first.

      Hope this helps...

Thanks for the advice Bri and Mike. Unfortunately we can't get the NXT Spray Wax in Oz yet so I'll have to use Quik Wax.

        Thanks again for the help.
