Nice find, it is 10 dollars cheaper. Better looking too.
Howzabout free? Any WalMart, Super K or grocery store with a bakery gets glaze in 5 gallon buckets with lids, they throw a ton of 'em out daily. Drop by and ask the dept. manager to save you some.
Home Depot buckets with the labels fits gritguards quite well. I have one of those. My other bucket is a Lowes with the labels. That suspends the gritguard at about 3 1/2 gallons lol so I think its better for my rinse bucket
Well, I use a smaller bucket for wheels, so maybe 3 gallons.
When washing the car, my rinse bucket is probably more like 4 gallons though.
If you dont run out of soapy water, and you use 1 ounce per gallon, then you should be ok. With the rinse water, you certainly want enough to cover your Grit Guard and be able to move your sponge around in.
Maybe this should be a new post but ... how many gallons are people using?
First I wash my wheels. If they are not very dirty I only mix one gallon of water/soap. I don't measure the clean water bucket but it is probably closer to 2 gallons. When finished, I dump an rinse everything out (both buckets). Then it's on to washing the actual car. For that I use 2 gallons of water/soap mixture (and again about 2 in the clean water bucket). Now granted my car is small, but I am just curios how this compares to what others are using.
i use to use 5 gallon buckets but found them a little too big and you never fill it up to the top anyway. i bought some 3.5-4 gallon ones at smart & final and like them better...
Yeah I use Home Depot's orange Homer buckets. I got some from Wal-Mart before but they shrunk at the bottom so the GritGuard went only 3/4 the way down. I don't see the point in spending so much money on buckets unless you are going to be mass detailing or just like to waste money but that's just me!
I currently have 2 car wash buckets that I got at Walmart a while back:
They are just standard 12 quart household buckets.
They look something like this:
I broke down and got some Grit Guards and they don't fit in my buckets.
I couldn't find any different ones at the store today. I am sure they have some industrial type construction ones at Home Depot.
But where can I find the really nice detailer ones that Mike used on his Car Wash Video? Or something along those lines. I don't have to have wheels lol. But it would be nice.
Thanks.
I have and use 2 of these exact buckets. I liked the size because they fit perfectly in my rack. I used a small hacksaw to remove one ring from each of the gritgards and they fit perfect in the buckets.
I like the clear bucket that Home Depot has with all the measurements labels on the outside. It has a clear matching lid as well. 6.00 for both. Add a Grit Guard and you're good to go.
