    Hello Everyone,

I am pretty new to detailing - quick question re: bird bombs. I just had my car fully detailed recently and unfortunately, i got paraded by bird bombs one weekend. The car was parked out in the sun and when I wiped away the bird poop, etching remained. My question is the process I will be taking. It is on a black g35 08 sedan. I was going to take the wax off in that specific area, apply scratch x by hand a few times and then re-wax again. does this seem right? What do you think the probability of taking off the etching will be?

    Thanks again!

Sounds like the right idea, though you likely want to look at the newer products. Just give it a wash, then clay, then use your swirl removal product.

Look for the Ultimate Compound, or the ScratchX 2.0.

Here's a couple links for using the first generation ScratchX, the theory is basically the same.

If you want to use ScratchX, then do a little shopping and get the new ScratchX 2.0 and some soft, foam applicator pads.

It may take a couple of applications but if the etchings are not too deep then you should be able to remove them and definitely improve them.

Ultimate Compound or M105 would also do the trick. ScratchX 2.0 is not *** aggressive as UC or M105 but will do the job and right now you can find it at most Walmart stores and UC aka Ultimate Compound is also starting to get out into auto parts stores.

The below was done with about 25 people watching live so it can be done.

great info. I just stopped by my local Pepboys and picked up scratch x 2.0. I'll give that a go - hopefully it works. I also found some what I believe to be Type 1 water spots - i will be claying those. I am relatively new to detailing - i have a general understanding of the processes, but have never physically done it! Thanks guys.
