  • New Guy couple ?'s

Hello, this is my first post on this forum. I stumbled upon it and I've been looking for hours now. That being said I have some questions about mequires products that I've been dying to finally have answered.
First, with the endurance tire shine, is there any simple way to apply it? It seems to drip right off my applicator when with any tilt of the pad.
Second, my most recent waxing techniques have been as follows: 1 coat NXT
    12hour wait
    2nd coat NXT
    12 hour wait
    2 coats of P21S
Is 12 hours really enough? I've been browsing on here and I see that some wait 12 hours and others wait a full 24. Also, does the NXT spray wax have cleaners in them that could possibly strip my P21s? Sorry if these questions are brought up frequently but I am new here.

It sounds like you're using the high gloss version which is thinner than the regular Endurance. How I apply that product is to hold the nozzle against my foam applicator and squeeze the product into the foam versus just sitting on top of the foam. Then when I push the foam against the rubber, the foam releases the product, this helps to reduce spillage and dripping. I often use Meguiar's small round wax applicator pads for this as I lose or use-up the included applicator pad and these wax applicator pads work just fine.

Second, my most recent waxing techniques have been as follows:

    1 coat NXT - 12 hour wait
    2nd coat NXT - 12 hour wait
    2 coats of P21S

The 12 and 24 hour time frame is simply a window of time to allow pass to insure all of the polymers have completely set-up. Please do not read into this that you must wait 12/24 hours, or that it takes 12/24 hours for all of the polymers to set-up. Some polymers may set-up in 15 minutes, some may fully set-up in three hours, the 12/24 hour figure is general, all encompassing window of time that you can be relatively sure that by the time 12 hours passes, most/all of the polymers in the Tech Wax have fully set up. Until then, from maximum gloss and protection, you want to avoid disrupting them, i.e. moving, touching, introducing other products on to them.

Of course this is only for the most serious detailer or enthusiasts, many people such as my self apply our second coat withing a half hour of applying the first coat because of time constraints.

Remember, two thin coats of wax always look and perform better than one coat, and especially one thick coat. Thick coats of any companies wax just wastes product and makes removal more difficult.

For example, for this Ferrari we polished on Tuesday, we applied the first coat of NXT Tech wax and after removing it, we waited approximately 20 minutes and then applied the second coat and removed it.

That looks great, that's a good color for that car, real rich looking.

Here's an article about topping NXT you might find interesting,

Thanx a lot! The ferrari thread was the first one I read on here. I always apply thin coats with my PC. I learned the hard way the first time I used NXT. It looked great until the sun started to go down and the light hit it just right. Then it looked like a smeared mess! I'm going to take a look at the topping NXT link you supplied. I've gone both ways with this myself and I truly cannot tell a difference in the looks. I do it because of the feel/endurance. I feel that topping it makes the waxed feel and bead of water more intense for a longer period of time. This summer I only used NXT and I would apply it about every 10-14 days.
          Thanx again,
          Alex
