    Yes.

    Assuming the paint needs all correction steps. Meguiar's teaches people to,

    1. Evaluate the condition of the finish
    2. Choose the right product
    3. Use good technique


    After washing, feel the paint with your clean hand to inspect for above surface bonded contaminants, if you discover them then clay the paint, if you don't then you can skip claying.

    Inspect the washed and dried paint in good lighting for swirls and scratches, if discovered then use the least aggressive product to remove the defects, this could be a cleaner/polish or a cleaner/wax or a paint cleaner or a compound, usually you'll want to test a product or two and check to see which product is needed to get the job done.
