  • What should I buy next?

    Hi,

My actual detailing kit is composed by:

    - Meguiars Deep Crystal System Paint Cleaner
    - Meguiars ScratchX
    - Meguiars Cleaner Wax
    - Meguiars NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 Paste
    - Meguiars Deep Crystal System Carnauba Wax
    - Meguiars NXT Generation Speed Detailer

I've just bought a Bosch PEX12AE orbital sander, so I need to know what to buy next.

Searching the forum, I guess it should be:

    - W7006, W8006 and W9006 pads, both 6.5"
    - BSP Speed Glaze (#80)
    - Fine Cut Cleaner M0216

Does anybody else suggest anything more?

    Thanks a lot.

    Weiler.

      You might think about PlastX
-It is amazing how clean/clear headlights and taillights improve the car's appearance-

Think about "Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner"
-It is my favorite car wash-

Think about Detailing clay and Quick Detailer
-It is an amazing product that improves your paint-

      Think about Metal polishes
-I love "Hot Rims Mag & Aluminum polish"-

As far as polishes go, I would look at
      -Swirl remover 2.0
      -ScratchX
      -Show car glaze

      I love Hi-Tech Yellow wax (M2616)

I would look at All Purpose Cleaner (APC)

These are some of my favorite Meguiars products, (they are all great)

Don't worry about buying a product, not liking it, and not being able to return it! Meguiars has a money back guarantee (which they honor)

      -good luck

Re: What should I buy next?

Check out AutoDetailingSolutions, they have some good deals on detailer line products in ready-to-use bottles. APC+, M80, or a clay bar kit would all be good investments.
NOTE: Post count does not reflect actual detailing knowledge.

This should be a nice product, but my headlights are glass made and the tailights are not "that important". I think I'll pass.

Think about "Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner"
-It is my favorite car wash-
I've not listed everything I have. It's missing the shampoos and acessories. I use Meguiar's Soft Wash Gel, as I didn't find the Gold Class Shampoo here.

-It is an amazing product that improves your paint-
Did you see the Speed Detailer in my list? Does it make the same effect?

            Think about Metal polishes
-I love "Hot Rims Mag & Aluminum polish"-
Again, I missed some products I already have, in this case, I own Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner, NXT Metal polish, and Gold Class Endurance High Gloss.

As far as polishes go, I would look at
            -Swirl remover 2.0
            -ScratchX
            -Show car glaze
ScratchX is in my actual list. The others I will search for more info.

            I love Hi-Tech Yellow wax (M2616)
Does the Carnauba Wax could bring the same results?

I would look at All Purpose Cleaner (APC)
I have a similar product from another brand.

These are some of my favorite Meguiars products, (they are all great)

Thanks a lot for your "detailed" help......

Ok, I will take note of this.

            This is my thought:

            - Meguiars Cleaner Wax
-> this was the first product I bought two years ago, simply to manual waxing. After my DA arrives, I should use it for keeping the car waxed weekly.

            - Meguiars NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0 Paste
            - Meguiars Deep Crystal System Carnauba Wax
-> these are from my new acquisition, even used yet. The first should be used as the last stage of the polishing process. The other should be an alternative to the first or another wax to keep the protection when the gloss becomes to desapear.

What do you say about the polishing products I've listed?

Nobody mentioned nothing about the pads......the W7006 is really necessary?

Hi again, I've tryied Autodetailingsolutions.com, but they don't ship overseas. As I live in Brazil, I must shop at another store.

I found some stuff at Ebay, but the invetory wasn't too big.

              Suggestions?

Re: What should I buy next?

Most DA Sanders for sanding wood don't have the power you need to move around a foam pad wet with chemicals and with pressure being applied to them.

The Porter Cable unit was/is the exception to this rule and one of the reasons Meguiar's introduced it almost 20 years ago to the enthusiast market showing people how to use it instead of an air-powered DA Sander which we already had backing plates and foam pads for and were teaching people in body shops how to use for swirl removal.

I have a Porter Cable wood sander that looks kind of like the Bosch you bought and it's useless for cleaning, polishing and even waxing paint.

It has to do with the drive unit and clutch itself inside the tool. Some are really good at moving a small, thin piece of sandpaper over wood which is what these tools are made for, attach a thick foam pad and start getting it wet with your cleaners, polishes and waxes and it's too much for the motor and drive units to move effectively to do anything.

Let us know if it works....
