    To Mike or whoever knows anything about this.
    Hi everyone! I was just wondering what the patent for the G-100 is all about (Patent no. 5,061,090) Is this a patent for the Dual-Action of the polisher and its safety for not being able to burn the paint? I can't understand the claim of "An output shaft and bearing assembly comprising:" And the parts that follows.

    Hi Bri,

    That's not a Meguiar's patent, but a patent held by the Porter-Cable Corporation.

      I already have the patent document at hand and I'm going to do a paper on it.. What would be better than to write a paper about the G-100 and learn how it really works.. I thought that the patent was about the polisher not being able to burn the paint because of its dual-action but i was wrong.. And I asked here since it's a Meguiar's product and maybe you guys might know something about it. It just hard to visualize.. Thanks again!

        The simple answer to why the dual action motion of the G-100 doesn't burn paint is because it's gentle to the finish. The foam pad is soft, all of Meguiar's product intended for machine application with the G-100 contain rich polishing oils and/or other ingredients that make the surface slippery, and the nature of the machine is to slow down when more pressure is applied.

          Yes, it helps a lot! Thanks! So, it doesn't have to do with the internal mechanism of the DA Polisher huh? Reading that patent was so tough, I had to give up.
