  • Help !!!! need to remove wax

I have been using Meguiars products for ovewr ten years now,.....

With the promise of easy application, easy removal and better results I was persuaded to use " another" brand of wax.,,,,, this other brand of wax is a blend of synthetic and a canuba that sounded to good to be true. ( Funny THat !! )

I have 2 cars that are the same, except colour.

Mine is black and was the guinea pig for the "new" wax....my wife's is red, that i just use NXT on.

The new product was a disaster, took twice as long to achieve an inferior finish !!!
My Question.....How can I remove this wax blend from my car, and what do i need to do before going back to my Meg. products !!!

    thank you

I would give the car a good claying. Use plenty of qd. You should get all the wax off.

I was just going to suggest claying, you beat me to it.

Would a 50% alcohol (IPA)/water solution remove the wax? If yes, that would probably be a quicker way than claying.

In addition to claying - You also had mentioned Meguiars Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner, that too will also remove the wax.

Either clay or a cleaner/polish will remove the wax. If the paint is smooth there is no need to clay again. DC1 will also remove the wax.

Nice cars BTW. They look familiar. I really like the Holden front end design too.

The most effective way to remove any previously applied wax or paint sealant would be to rub the paint down with a light paint cleaner like Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner.

Another way to do this would be to apply a light cleaner/polish like M09 Swirl Remover 2.0

Both will gently remove any previously applied product while leaving you a clean base to start with.

A paint cleaner will work great to remove the old wax. I'm not too sure either what "Meguiar's Wax and Oil Remover" is either...

As for the familiarity, do a search for Pontiac GTO.

What brand was this wax you tried?
If its fast, loud, and runs on a flammable liquid...count me in.

was the product used !!! Not sure if i'm allowed to name them, with the forum rules or not ??

Took me ages to apply and remove...... mind you, could have been in the way i did it ???

Long story short,... i am very disappointed, and will go back to what i've been used to Megs. NXT wash and wax.

after several washes, and an exhaustive clean and claybar attack, i'm now in the process of going over my car with it's second full Meg. NXT 2.0 treatment.

Has been easy to apply, and has always given a brilliant finish.
