Extreme swirls or something else?

1989 Mercedes 560 SEC. It has sat for the past 4 years and has not been polished or waxed for at least 7 or 8 years.

Not sure if this is just extreme swirls, oxidation of the clearcoat, or clearcoat failure. The paint is smooth and has been this way for at least a year. I washed it about a year ago and then put it in the garage. A couple months ago I moved and then had to put it outside, but it has been under a car cover.

Some of those look like swirling/marring from poor washing tecniques and 3rd from top and the bottom one look like brush marring from repeated trips thru an automated car wash.

It has definitely seen it's share of automated car washings and bad hand washing. My mom has owned the car since 92 and recently gave it to me since it has been sitting for so long.

Looks like lots of trips to the car wash, but the 3rd one is either a sun reflection or possible failure.

nah, it was like this before I put the car cover on it.

I think the majority are fixable. I think you could make it look fantastic again.
