Re: Which Wax? Gold Class or NXT?

If there is any pearl or metal flake I would 100% go with the NXT. If it is just a gloss paint the Gold Class should give you a deeper shine. I use the NXT on my wife's Nitro with Light Khaki Metallic paint and it really pops.

Re: Which Wax? Gold Class or NXT?

Guys, I've used them all and because I wax my "toys" about every six weeks or so, I cannot tell the difference. I've used NXT, ColorX, Gold Class, #16 and even the inexpensive Meguiar's cleaner wax on white, black and silver. No difference - nada.

Right now I'm in an "NXT 2.0 frame of mind". It works great on my two white pickups and my two black Harleys.

NXT 2.0 is better than Gold Class.

Re: Which Wax? Gold Class or NXT?

I've used NXT for several years & love it. Before that I used Gold Class paste and I have a can of that left over from the "old days".
My question and looking for opinions. I have factory chrome wheels on my Buick Enclave and want to apply winter protection for them as I live in an area where we have snow/ice and salt is used extensively on the roads. I've been using NXT on the Clave including the wheels but am wondering if I may have better protection with the Gold Class paste?

Any other Meguiar's products that would offer better protection??

Re: Which Wax? Gold Class or NXT?

                Hey Guys

I'm really new to all this stuff.I discovered Meguair's products a few months when a friend of mine told me about them. Nobody sells Meguiar's products here since theres little averness of car detailing from where I come from. A regular car shampoo and a cheap wax coat is usually applied here at service stations so yeah I hope the draws a picture for you all. I bought a Sky Blue 1994 Mercedes-Benz S500 sometime back, the car was in a mint shape but the paint was pretty much neglected which I guess was because it's previous owners didn't apply premium class products like Meguair's on it.The paint had fine swirl marks and scratches on it and wasn't really that impressive. After having a look at Meguiar's list of products here's what I ordered from my elder brother who came down here from Canada last month.

Meguair's Gold Class Shampoo and Conditioner
                ColorX
                NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0
                Ultimate Quik Detailer

I applied these products as shown in the order, and it did make a huge difference, the swirl marks have been pretty much reduced and the car gives a nice wet look but somehow I'm still not satisfied with it, not that I'm disatisfied with the products I mean they did a great job but I wouldn't call it a "show car shine". It still has a boatload of swirl marks that ruin the impression and that also on a light colour like Sky Blue. I want a clearer slicker and a wetter look that I've seen in some of the other forums on light coloured cars. Now here are the products I'm asking my cousin to bring from Canada after doing some more researching in these forums:-

Meguiar’s® Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner
                Meguiar’s® NXT Generation® Car Wash
                Meguiar’s® Smooth Surface® Clay Kit
                Meguiar’s® ScratchX®2.0
                Meguiar’s® SwirlX
                Meguiar’s® ColorX
Meguiar’s® Gold Class Clear Coat Car Wax
                Meguiar’s® NXT Generation® Tech Wax® 2.0 Paste
                Meguiar’s® Gold Class Vinyl/Rubber Protectant
                Meguiar’s® Hot Rims® Mag & Aluminum Polish
                Meguiar’s® Ultimate Quik Detailer™
Meguiar’s® Water Magnet® Microfiber Drying Towel
                Meguiar’s® Soft Buff™ Terry Towels
                Meguiar’s® Soft Touch Microfiber Chamois
Meguiar’s® Even Coat™ Microfiber Applicator Pads
Meguiar’s® HOT SHINE™ TIRE GEL KIT
                Meguiar’s® PlastX

I would obliged to know your suggestions whether if these products are going to improve the results or not, if theres anything unecessary in the list or something missing or perhaps a replacement in any of them.Other than that I'm confused in the numbering of these products like #7 #23,How do I know which product are people talking about?

                Cheers

In your case try to get a hold of some Ultimate Compound and Swirl X and follow with NXT2. That should take care of all your swirls and scratches.

The numbers are just part numbers. They're actually Quick Reference Parts Numbers and in the refinishing world, (body shops), these are tools of the trade and craftsmen know the products by their number.

As Larry suggested, if you want to remove swirls and scratches by hand or with a Dual Action Polisher, try to get a bottle of Ultimate Compound.
