  • Ultimate Quick Detailer Question?

I take my car to get professionally detailed once every 2 weeks, but because of the area I live in, sometimes between those two weeks, I'll hit lots of bugs and/or dirt spots while driving at night. Sometimes these spots are very few while other times, they're all over my front bumper. I am looking for a quick (but strong) cleaning product to wipe off these spots in between my 2 week detailing sessions. I've looked at the Ultimate Quick Detailer, and it seems that most of the information available imply that it is more for a quick shine than a strong cleanser. So here are some questions:

    1) Is the Ultimate Quick Detailer the right product for the situation discribed above?

    2) If not, does Meguiar's offer any such product or a comparable product?

    3) If not, what product(s) do you recommend for the above application? I've heard many good things about the Poor Boy's quick detailer as well.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I personally use Meguiar's Last Touch undiluted as my go-to tool for removing bird droppings, bugs, or other potentially harmful contamination between washings. Last Touch has a lot of lubrication and oils in it, so it is about as safe as it gets for something like that.

Just remember to spray it onto the bugs and allow it to soak for a minute or so, and then GENTLY wipe away. Never work it into the paint as you risk scratching it.

As for the UQD, I use it as a follow-up after the Last Touch and the final result is stunning!

UQD would be a great product for what you describe!! Give it a try, you'll love it!

Mark Kleis, many thanks for your quick response. That is exactly what I was getting at.... I need a product that lubricates good and can remove bug acid and tiny mud particles without harming the paint. So do you recommend I use Last Touch then UQD or would Last Touch be enough?

It sure works for me and my shiny red paint! I do this probably 3 times a week, maybe more and I have not incurred any marring or scratches.

I think I'm going to have to get myself a gallon of Last Touch.

I did, and I already ordered my second. I use LT diluted 50/50 with distilled water (Like 94 cents at Wal-Mart) as my claylube, and also as a softening agent when I remove polish or compounds. It smells awesome, and works great.

I use both the last touch and uqd. Both are fantastic products. I tend to go over the bugs with the last touch. Works very well for me.

UQD only works for me just have to soak it for a while then gently remove it with a premium quality MF cloths. Spraying over and wiping it again as needed especially when it won't come off easily

I know..... my detailer loves it but then again, knowing how picky I am about swirl marks and dust particles on a black Mercedes, and how hard he has to work to keep it ALWAYS swirl free, he sometimes hates it

Not to hijack the thread, but can someone list the differences between the following products?

                              Ultimate Quick Detailer (UQD)
Last Touch from the Detailer Line
I35 from the Mirror Glaze Line

Which one would provide you with the most bang for the buck? Would these products be acceptable by itself to maintain the finish inbetween washings / waxes?

If this is already in the forum, a link would be great. I searched but came up empty.
