  • Used Car Scratches (56K Beware)

Ok, so bought a used car, and the scratches came with it. I think im gunna 83 and/or 80 the whole car and so on...
but, what can I do about these scratches, besides bodywork. There are major scratches on almost all 4 corners of the truck.
    Any suggestions will help.

The swirls and scratchs on the body look like something that can be fixed with a few passes of 83 but the bumpers im not so sure bc it looks like the paint has actually been chipped off....you wont get a perfect finish but it'd look a lot better

Most of the swirls and scratches look like they can be corrected. Do a test spot with #80 and see if there is noticeable improvement. If not step up to the #83. Good luck, let us know how good your truck turned out.

Well the bumper picture can't be fixed, only by repainting it because there is no paint.
As for the swirls and some of the scratches do a test spot and see what works, remember to use the least aggressive method so give M80 a try and evaluate the results

We have a number of sayings on this forum, here's one of them,

"You can't always remove a scratch completely but you can often times improve a scratch to the point where you can live with it"

Definitely try M80 first with a W8006 Polishing Pad and work small sections at at time. This new tool has plenty of power and in most cases M80 will tackle about 90% of the paint systems out there, if it doesn't then you can always switch to M83 DACP

          Meguiar's also recommends,

"Use the least aggressive product to get the job done"

This will enable you to reach your goal while leaving the most amount of paint on the car for the future.

For the areas missing paint, besides having a body shop re-paint these areas you can also apply some touch up yourself and do your best to make these areas less noticeable.

Is this going to be a show truck or a daily driver?

You could go to fix-up.com and get a touch up paint pen for the deeper stuff.
