  • Tire Question

I've searched some threads but I want to be sure..... I was on a dirt road yesterday and my tires have dirt / mud pretty embedded in tire surface.
I assume I 'll have to scrub a bit but I wanted feedback on what may work best to remove. I went to a concert last night and had to cruise on loose dirt. I wish I could have gone airborne over the dirt surface...

    Re: Tire Question

A little soap and water with a stiff brush is all you should need.

Which tire surface are you talking about? The tread or the sidewall?

Drive down to your local boat launch ramp and pull in and out fwd and back a few times than park and watch the tires dry.

Its on the sidewall and wraps over the edges on onto the tread a bit.

In that case, just like what Scott said, get yourself a bucket of either soap or APC and water, a brush, and scrub it down.

Just like they said a good brush and soap will do. It's only dirt.

Just like they all said- just-

Allow a few minutes for soap and water to soften up the mud.

Use a nylon or natural bristle brush - no steel wire

I'd add to apply a final tire gloss or non gloss dressing when done to aid in making the clean up easier next time.

THX. Just washed the tank ( Nissan Armada ) and tires with the brush using soap as recommended. Got most off but inbetween the tred is some remaining. I guess I just have to scrub a bit more in tred. I know i'm nuts because I get a little crazy from dirt on truck tires.
This was me as soon as I saw the dirt road that I had no choice in taking...

                      Re: Tire Question

On wheels and tires I use an APC rather than regular car body soap, works better in my opinion, esp on a car that is driven on dirt roads. I wax the wheels often with a spray wax. Rinse them, apply the APC solution and scrub with the wash solution and rinse again. No problem.
